Genesis 47-50

Jacob’s Family Settles in Goshen

[9] So Jacob said to Pharaoh, "The days of the years of my sojourning are 130; few and evil have been the days of the years of my life, and they have not attained to the days of the years that my fathers lived during the days of their sojourning." [Gen 47:9 LSB]

[9] By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a foreign [land], dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, fellow heirs of the same promise, [10] for he was looking for the city which has foundations, whose architect and builder is God. [Heb 11:9-10 LSB]

Joseph and the Famine

[31] Then he said, "Swear to me." So he swore to him. Then Israel bowed [in worship] at the head of the bed. [Gen 47:31 LSB]

[9] Then he had still another dream and recounted it to his brothers and said, "Behold, I have had still another dream; and behold, the sun and the moon and eleven stars were bowing down to me." [Gen 37:9 LSB]

[21] By faith Jacob, as he was dying, blessed each of the sons of Joseph, and WORSHIPED, [leaning] ON THE TOP OF HIS STAFF. [Heb 11:21 LSB]

Israel Blesses Manasseh and Ephraim

[14] But Israel stretched out his right hand and laid it on the head of Ephraim, who was the younger, and his left hand on Manasseh's head, crossing his hands, although Manasseh was the firstborn. [Gen 48:14 LSB]

[16] The right hand of Yahweh is exalted; The right hand of Yahweh does valiantly. [Psa 118:16 LSB]

Jacob Assembles His Sons

[10] "The scepter shall not depart from Judah, Nor the ruler's staff from between his feet, Until Shiloh comes, And to him [shall be] the obedience of the peoples. [Gen 49:10 LSB]

[58] For they provoked Him with their high places And aroused His jealousy with their graven images. [59] God heard and was filled with wrath And greatly rejected Israel; [60] So that He abandoned the dwelling place at Shiloh, The tent which He caused to dwell among men, [61] And gave up His strength to captivity And His beauty into the hand of the adversary. [Psa 78:58-61 LSB]

[33] So Jacob finished commanding his sons. And he drew his feet into the bed and breathed his last and was gathered to his people. [Gen 49:33 LSB]

Jacob’s Burial at Machpelah

[19] But Joseph said to them, "Do not be afraid, for am I in God's place? [20] "As for you, you meant evil against me, [but] God meant it for good in order to do [what has happened on] this day, to keep many people alive. [21] "So now, do not be afraid; I will provide for you and your little ones." And he comforted them and spoke to their heart. [Gen 50:19-21 LSB]

The Death of Joseph

[24] And Joseph said to his brothers, "I am about to die, but God will surely take care of you and bring you up from this land to the land which He swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob." [25] Then Joseph made the sons of Israel swear, saying, "God will surely take care of you, and you shall carry my bones up from here." [Gen 50:24-25 LSB]

[22] By faith Joseph, when he was dying, made mention of the exodus of the sons of Israel, and gave commands concerning his bones. [Heb 11:22 LSB]
