Genesis 13-15

Abram and Lot Separate

[17] "Arise, walk about the land through its length and breadth; for I will give it to you." [Gen 13:17 LSB]

Kings of the Valley Take Lot

Melchizedek Blesses Abram

[18] And Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine; now he was a priest of God Most High. [19] Then he blessed him and said, "Blessed be Abram of God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth; [20] And blessed be God Most High, Who has delivered your enemies into your hand." Then he gave him a tenth of all. [Gen 14:18-20 LSB]

[1] For this MELCHIZEDEK, KING OF SALEM, PRIEST OF THE MOST HIGH GOD, who met ABRAHAM AS HE WAS RETURNING FROM THE SLAUGHTER OF THE KINGS and BLESSED HIM, [2] TO WHOM ALSO ABRAHAM APPORTIONED A TENTH PART OF ALL, was first of all, by the translation [of his name], king of righteousness, and then also king of Salem, which is king of peace. [Heb 7:1-2 LSB]

[9] And, so to speak, through Abraham even Levi, who received tithes, paid tithes, [10] for he was still in the loins of his father when Melchizedek met him. [Heb 7:9-10 LSB]

[17] For it is witnessed [about Him], "YOU ARE A PRIEST FOREVER ACCORDING TO THE ORDER OF MELCHIZEDEK." [Heb 7:17 LSB]

Yahweh Cuts a Covenant with Abram

[5] And He brought him outside and said, "Now look toward the heavens, and number the stars, if you are able to number them." And He said to him, "So shall your seed be." [6] Then he believed in Yahweh; and He counted it to him as righteousness. [Gen 15:5-6 LSB]

[3] For what does the Scripture say? "ABRAHAM BELIEVED GOD, AND IT WAS COUNTED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS." [4] Now to the one who works, his wage is not counted according to grace, but according to what is due. [5] But to the one who does not work, but believes upon Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted as righteousness, [Rom 4:3-5 LSB]

[6] Just as Abraham BELIEVED GOD AND IT WAS COUNTED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS, [7] so know that those who are of faith, those are sons of Abraham. [Gal 3:6-7 LSB]

[21] Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered up Isaac his son on the altar? [22] You see that faith was working with his works, and as a result of the works, faith was perfected. [23] And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "AND ABRAHAM BELIEVED GOD, AND IT WAS COUNTED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS," and he was called the friend of God. [24] You see that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone. [Jas 2:21-24 LSB]
