Jacob Leaves While Laban is Gone

Gen 31:11-13 LSB - [11] "Then the angel of God said to me in the dream, 'Jacob,' and I said, 'Here I am.' [12] "He said, 'Lift up now your eyes and see [that] all the male goats which are mating are striped, speckled, and mottled; for I have seen all that Laban has been doing to you. [13] 'I am the God [of] Bethel, where you anointed a pillar, where you made a vow to Me; now arise, leave this land, and return to the land of your kin.'"
O God of Bethel, O GOD OF BETHEL, BY WHOSE HAND
O God of Bethel, by Whose hand
Thy people still are fed,
Who through this weary pilgrimage
Hast all our fathers led.
Our vows, our prayers, we now present
Before Thy throne of grace;
God of our fathers, be the God
Of their succeeding race.
Through each perplexing path of life
Our wandering footsteps guide;
Give us each day our daily bread,
And raiment fit provide.
O spread Thy covering wings around
Till all our wanderings cease,
And at our Father’s loved abode
Our souls arrive in peace.
Such blessings from Thy gracious hand
Our humble prayers implore;
And Thou shalt be our chosen God,
And portion evermore.

Gen 31:42 LSB - [42] "If the God of my father, the God of Abraham, and the dread of Isaac, had not been for me, surely now you would have sent me away empty. God has seen my affliction and the toil of my hands, so He rendered [the] decision last night."
Gen 31:42 ESV - [42] If the God of my father, the God of Abraham and the Fear of Isaac, had not been on my side, surely now you would have sent me away empty-handed. God saw my affliction and the labor of my hands and rebuked you last night."

Gen 32:9-12 LSB -
[9] And Jacob said, "O God of my father Abraham and God of my father Isaac, O Yahweh, who said to me, 'Return to your land and to your kin, and I will prosper you,'
[10] I am unworthy of all the lovingkindness and of all the truth which You have shown to Your slave; for with my staff [only] I crossed this Jordan, and now I have become two camps.
[11] "Deliver me, I pray, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau; for I fear him, lest he come and strike me down [with] the mothers and the children.
[12] "For You said, 'I will surely prosper you and make your seed as the sand of the sea, which is too great to be numbered.'"
Jacob Wrestles with God
Gen 32:24 LSB - [24] Then Jacob was left alone, and a man wrestled with him until the breaking of dawn.
Gen 32:28 LSB - [28] Then He said, "Your name shall no longer be Jacob, but Israel; for you have striven with God and with men and have prevailed."
Gen 32:30 LSB - [30] So Jacob named the place Peniel, for [he said], "I have seen God face to face, yet my life has been delivered."
Nay, I cannot let Thee go,
Till a blessing thou bestow;
Do not turn away thy face,
Mine’s an urgent pressing case.
Dost thou ask me, who I am?
Ah, my LORD, thou know’st my name!
Yet the question gives a plea,
To support my suit with thee.
Thou didst once a wretch behold,
In rebellion blindly bold;
Scorn thy grace, thy pow’r defy,
That poor rebel, Lord, was I.
Once a sinner near despair,
Sought thy mercy–seat by prayer;
Mercy heard and set him free,
Lord, that mercy came to me,
Many years have passed since then,
Many changes I have seen;
Yet have been upheld till now,
Who could hold me up but thou?
Thou hast helped in every need,
This emboldens me to plead;
After so much mercy past,
Canst thou let me sink at last?
No—I must maintain my hold,
’Tis thy goodness makes me bold;
I can no denial take,
When I plead for Jesu’s sake.
