Genesis 13-15 - Abram believed in Yahweh; and He counted it to him as righteousness

Abram and Lot Separate

Gen 13:3-4 LSB - [3] And he went on his journeys from the Negev as far as Bethel, to the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Ai, [4] to the place of the altar which he had made there formerly; and there Abram called upon the name of Yahweh.

Gen 13:10-13 LSB - [10] Then Lot lifted up his eyes and saw all the valley of the Jordan, that it was well watered everywhere--[this was] before Yahweh destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah--like the garden of Yahweh, like the land of Egypt as you go to Zoar. [11] So Lot chose for himself all the valley of the Jordan, and Lot journeyed eastward. Thus they separated from each other. [12] Abram lived in the land of Canaan, while Lot lived in the cities of the valley and moved his tents as far as Sodom. [13] Now the men of Sodom were evil and sinners, exceedingly so, against Yahweh.

Gen 13:18 LSB - [18] Then Abram moved his tent and came and lived by the oaks of Mamre, which are in Hebron, and there he built an altar to Yahweh.

Kings of the Valley Take Lot

Gen 14:13 LSB - [13] Then a fugitive came and told Abram the Hebrew. Now he was dwelling by the oaks of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol and brother of Aner, and these were in a covenant with Abram.

Melchizedek Blesses Abram

Gen 14:18-20 LSB - [18] And Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine; now he was a priest of God Most High. [19] Then he blessed him and said, "Blessed be Abram of God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth; [20] And blessed be God Most High, Who has delivered your enemies into your hand." Then he gave him a tenth of all.

Yahweh Cuts a Covenant with Abram

Gen 15:4-6 LSB -
[4] Then behold, the word of Yahweh came to him, saying, "This one will not be your heir; but one who will come forth from your own body, he shall be your heir."
[5] And He brought him outside and said, "Now look toward the heavens, and number the stars, if you are able to number them." And He said to him, "So shall your seed be."
[6] Then he believed in Yahweh; and He counted it to him as righteousness.

Rom 4:2-3 LSB -
[2] For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about--but not before God!
[3] For what does the Scripture say? "ABRAHAM BELIEVED GOD, AND IT WAS COUNTED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS."

Rom 4:19-22 LSB -
[19] And without becoming weak in faith he contemplated his own body, now as good as dead since he was about a hundred years old, and the deadness of Sarah's womb;
[20] yet, with respect to the promise of God, he did not waver in unbelief but grew strong in faith, giving glory to God,
[21] and being fully assured that what God had promised, He was able also to do. [22] Therefore IT WAS ALSO COUNTED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS.

Gen 15:16 LSB - [16] "Then in the fourth generation they will return here, for the iniquity of the Amorite is not yet complete."
