Nations Descended from Noah
Gen 10:5 LSB - [5] From these the coastlands of the nations were separated into their lands, every one according to his tongue, according to their families, into their nations.
Gen 10:8-10 LSB - [8] Now Cush was the father of Nimrod; he began to be a mighty one on the earth. [9] He was a mighty hunter before Yahweh; therefore it is said, "Like Nimrod a mighty hunter before Yahweh." [10] The beginning of his kingdom was Babel and Erech and Accad and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.
Gen 10:8, 25 LSB - [8] Now Cush was the father of Nimrod; he began to be a mighty one on the earth. ... [25] Now two sons were born to Eber; the name of the one [was] Peleg, for in his days the earth was divided; and his brother's name [was] Joktan.
The Tower of Babel
Gen 11:3-4 LSB - [3] Then they said to one another, "Come, let us make bricks and burn [them] thoroughly." And they had brick for stone, and they had tar for mortar. [4] And they said, "Come, let us build for ourselves a city, and a tower whose top [will reach] into heaven, and let us make for ourselves a name, lest we be scattered over the face of the whole earth."
Gen 11:8-9 LSB - [8] So Yahweh scattered them from there over the face of the whole earth; and they stopped building the city. [9] Therefore its name was called Babel, because there Yahweh confused the language of the whole earth; and from there Yahweh scattered them over the face of the whole earth.
The Generations of Shem
Gen 11:26 LSB - [26] And Terah lived 70 years and became the father of Abram, Nahor, and Haran.
The Generations of Terah
Gen 11:31 LSB - [31] And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran, his grandson, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, his son Abram's wife; and they went out together from Ur of the Chaldeans in order to go to the land of Canaan; and they came as far as Haran and settled there.
Yahweh Appears to Abram
Gen 12:1-4 LSB -
[1] And Yahweh said to Abram, "Go forth from your land, And from your kin And from your father's house, To the land which I will show you;
[2] And I will make you a great nation, And I will bless you, And make your name great; And so you shall be a blessing;
[3] And I will bless those who bless you, And the one who curses you I will curse. And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed."
[4] So Abram went forth as Yahweh had spoken to him; and Lot went with him. Now Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran.
Gen 12:8 LSB - [8] Then he proceeded from there to the mountain on the east of Bethel, and he pitched his tent with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east; and there he built an altar to Yahweh and called upon the name of Yahweh.
Abram and Sarai in Egypt
Gen 12:18-19 LSB - [18] Then Pharaoh called Abram and said, "What is this you have done to me? Why did you not tell me that she was your wife? [19] "Why did you say, 'She is my sister,' so that I took her for myself as a wife? So now, here is your wife, take her and go."
From The LORD will provide by John Newton
His call we obey
Like Abram of old,
Not knowing our way,
But faith makes us bold;
For though we are strangers
We have a good Guide,
Though troubles assail
And trust in all dangers, T
he Lord will provide.
