Exodus 1-3 - I AM WHO I AM

Israel Multiplies in Egypt

Exo 1:5 LSB - [5] And all the persons who came from the loins of Jacob were seventy in number, but Joseph was [already] in Egypt.

Gen 46:26 LSB - [26] All the persons belonging to Jacob, who came to Egypt, who came out of his loins, excluding the wives of Jacob's sons, [were] sixty-six persons in all,

Gen 46:27 LSB - [27] and the sons of Joseph, who were born to him in Egypt were two; all the persons of the house of Jacob, who came to Egypt, [were] seventy.

Exo 1:17 LSB - [17] But the midwives feared God and did not do as the king of Egypt had spoken to them, but let the boys live.


The Birth of Moses

Exo 2:8-10 LSB - [8] And Pharaoh's daughter said to her, "Go." So the girl went and called the child's mother. [9] Then Pharaoh's daughter said to her, "Take this child away and nurse him for me, and I will give [you] your wages." So the woman took the child and nursed him. [10] And the child grew, and she brought him to Pharaoh's daughter, and he became her son. And she named him Moses and said, "Because I drew him out of the water."

Moses Flees to Midian

Exo 2:12 LSB - [12] So he turned this way and that, and he saw that there was no one [around]. So he struck down the Egyptian and hid him in the sand.

Heb 11:24-25 LSB - [24] By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter, [25] choosing rather to be mistreated with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin,

God Hears Israel’s Groaning

Exo 2:24-25 LSB - [24] So God heard their groaning; and God remembered His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. [25] And God saw the sons of Israel, and God knew [them].

God Calls Moses at the Burning Bush

Exo 3:6 LSB - [6] He said also, "I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob." Then Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look at God.

Exo 3:14 LSB - [14] And God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM"; and He said, "Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, 'I AM has sent me to you.'"

Exo 3:17 LSB - [17] "So I said, I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt to the land of the Canaanite and the Hittite and the Amorite and the Perizzite and the Hivite and the Jebusite, to a land flowing with milk and honey."'

Exo 3:19 LSB - [19] "But I know that the king of Egypt will not give you [permission] to go, except by a strong hand.
