Yahweh Rains Bread from Heaven

Exo 16:4 LSB - [4] Then Yahweh said to Moses, "Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a day's portion every day, that I may test them, whether or not they will walk in My law.

Yahweh Gives Meat and Bread

Exo 16:12-13 LSB - [12] "I have heard the grumblings of the sons of Israel; speak to them, saying, 'At twilight you shall eat meat, and in the morning you shall be filled with bread, so that you shall know that I am Yahweh your God.'" [13] So it happened at evening that the quails came up and covered the camp, and in the morning there was a layer of dew around the camp.

Yahweh Gives Bread for Two Days

Exo 16:22 LSB - [22] Now it happened that on the sixth day they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for each one. Then all the leaders of the congregation came and told Moses.

Water from the Rock

Exo 17:6-7 LSB - [6] "Behold, I will stand before you there on the rock at Horeb; and you shall strike the rock, and water will come out of it, that the people may drink." Israel Overwhelms Amalek

Jethro’s Counsel

Exo 18:2-4 LSB - [2] And Jethro, Moses' father-in-law, took Moses' wife Zipporah, after he had sent her away, [3] and her two sons, of whom one was named Gershom, for Moses said, "I have been a sojourner in a foreign land."  Israel Crosses the Red Sea

Exo 14:3-4 LSB - [3] "And Pharaoh will say of the sons of Israel, 'They are wandering in confusion in the land; the wilderness has shut them in.' [4] "Thus I will harden Pharaoh's heart with strength, and he will pursue them; and I will be glorified through Pharaoh and all his army, so that the Egyptians will know that I am Yahweh." And they did so.

Exo 14:13-14 LSB - [13] But Moses said to the people, "Do not fear! Stand by and see the salvation of Yahweh which He will accomplish for you today; for the Egyptians whom you have seen today, you will never see them again forever. [14] "Yahweh will fight for you, and you will keep silent."

Exo 14:21-22 LSB - [21] Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and Yahweh swept the sea [back] by a strong east wind all night and made the sea into dry ground, so the waters were split. Exo 14:27-28 LSB - [27] So Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to its normal state at daybreak while the Egyptians were fleeing right into it; then Yahweh overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea. The Song of Moses and Israel

Exo 15:1-2 LSB - 

[1] Then Moses and the sons of Israel sang this song to Yahweh and said, 

"I will sing to Yahweh, for He is highly exalted; 

The horse and its rider He has hurled into the sea.

And He has become my salvation;

Yahweh Sweetens the Water

Exo 15:25-26 LSB - [25] Then he cried out to Yahweh, and Yahweh showed him a tree; and he threw [it] into the waters, and the waters became sweet. There He set for them a statute and a judgment, and there He tested them. [26] And He said, "If you will earnestly listen to the voice of Yahweh your God, and do what is right in His sight, and give ear to His commandments, and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have put on the Egyptians; for I, Yahweh, am your healer."

The Plague of Locusts

Exo 10:1-2 LSB - 

[1] Then Yahweh said to Moses, "Come to Pharaoh, for I have hardened his heart and the heart of his servants with firmness, that I may set these signs of Mine among them, 

[2] and that you may recount in the hearing of your son and of your grandson, how I dealt severely with the Egyptians, and how I put My signs among them, that you may know that I am Yahweh."

Exo 10:12-13 LSB - 

[12] Then Yahweh said to Moses, "Stretch out your hand over the land of Egypt for the locusts, that they may come up on the land of Egypt and eat every plant of the land, all that the hail has left remaining." 

[13] So Moses stretched out his staff over the land of Egypt, and Yahweh directed an east wind on the land all that day and all that night; [and when] it was morning, the east wind brought the locusts.

Exo 10:20 LSB - [20] But Yahweh hardened Pharaoh's heart with strength, and he did not let the sons of Israel go.

The Plague of Darkness

Exo 10:22-23 LSB - [22] So Moses stretched out his hand toward the sky, and there was thick darkness in all the land of Egypt for three days. [23] They did not see one another, nor did anyone rise from his place for three days, but all the sons of Israel had light in their [places of] habitation.

Exo 10:27 LSB - [27] But Yahweh hardened Pharaoh's heart with strength, and he was not willing to let them go.

Yahweh Says One More Plague

Exo 11:9 LSB - [9] Then Yahweh said to Moses, "Pharaoh will not listen to you, so that My miraculous wonders will be multiplied in the land of Egypt."

The Passover Lamb

Exo 12:7-8 LSB - [7] 'Moreover, they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel of the houses in which they eat it. [8] 'And they shall eat the flesh that night, roasted with fire, and they shall eat it with unleavened bread and bitter herbs.

Death of the Firstborn of Egypt

Exo 12:29 LSB - [29] Now it happened at midnight that Yahweh struck all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sat on his throne to the firstborn of the captive who was in the dungeon, and all the firstborn of cattle.

Israel Goes Out from Egypt

Exo 12:41-42 LSB - [41] And it happened at the end of 430 years, to the very day, that all the hosts of Yahweh went out from the land of Egypt. [42] It is a night to be kept for Yahweh for having brought them out from the land of Egypt; this night is for Yahweh, to be kept by all the sons of Israel throughout their generations.

The Statute of the Passover

Exo 12:48 LSB - [48] "But if a sojourner sojourns with you and celebrates the Passover to Yahweh, let all his males be circumcised, and then let him come near to celebrate it; and he shall be like a native of the land. But no uncircumcised person may eat of it.

f. You will not have gone through the cities of Israel before the Son of Man comes: This is one of the hardest-to-understand statements of Jesus in Matthew. Could Jesus really mean that He would return to this earth before the disciples would make it through all the cities of Israel? If so, this would make Jesus plainly wrong in this prediction. Instead, it is better to see His “coming” in this passage as His coming in judgment upon Judea in AD 70 which did happen before the gospel came to every city in Israel.

i. This is the fulfillment of the day of judgment warned of in Matthew 10:15. In many ways, the judgment poured out by God upon Judea through the Roman armies in AD 70 was worse than the judgment that came upon Sodom and Gomorrah.
