1 John 1-3 - Abide in Jesus Christ

The Word of Life

1Jo 1:1-3 LSB -
[1] What was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we beheld and touched with our hands, concerning the Word of Life--
[2] and the life was manifested, and we have seen and bear witness and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was manifested to us--
[3] what we have seen and heard we proclaim to you also, so that you may also have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ.

God Is Light

1Jo 1:5 LSB - [5] And this is the message we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all.

1Jo 1:7 LSB - [7] but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.

1Jo 1:9 LSB - [9] If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Psa 32:5 LSB -

[5] I acknowledged my sin to You,

And my iniquity I did not cover up;

I said, "I will confess my transgressions to Yahweh;" 

And You forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah.

 

Jesus Christ Our Advocate

1Jo 2:1-2 LSB -
[1] My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous;
[2] and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only, but also for [those of] the whole world.

1Jo 2:3 LSB - [3] And by this we know that we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments.

1Jo 2:5 LSB - [5] but whoever keeps His word, truly in him the love of God has been perfected. By this we know that we are in Him:

Do Not Love the World

1Jo 2:15-16 LSB -
[15] Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
[16] For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world.

1Jo 2:22 LSB - [22] Who is the liar but the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, the one who denies the Father and the Son.

1Jo 2:24-25 LSB -
[24] As for you, let that which you heard from the beginning abide in you. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also will abide in the Son and in the Father.
[25] And this is the promise which He Himself made to us: eternal life.

Children of God, Love One Another

1Jo 3:1-3 LSB - 

[1] See how great a love the Father has given to us, that we would be called children of God; and we are. For this reason the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. 

[2] Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not been manifested as yet what we will be. We know that when He is manifested, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is. 

[3] And everyone who has this hope [fixed] on Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.

1Jo 3:9 LSB - [9] Everyone who has been born of God does not sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.

1Jo 3:16 LSB - [16] By this we have known love, that He laid down His life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers.

1Jo 3:21 LSB - [21] Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence before God;

1Jo 3:23-24 LSB - 

[23] And this is His commandment, that we believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as He gave a commandment to us. 

[24] And the one who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. We know by this that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He gave us.
