Ezra 1-3 - Yahweh Stirred Up the Spirit of Cyrus

The Proclamation of Cyrus

Ezr 1:1-4 LSB -
[1] Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia--in order to complete the word of Yahweh from the mouth of Jeremiah--Yahweh stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he had a proclamation pass throughout all his kingdom, and also [put it] in writing, saying:
[2] "Thus says Cyrus king of Persia, 'Yahweh, the God of heaven, has given me all the kingdoms of the earth, and He has appointed me to build Him a house in Jerusalem, which is in Judah.
[3] 'Whoever there is among you of all His people, may his God be with him! Let him go up to Jerusalem which is in Judah and rebuild the house of Yahweh, the God of Israel; He is the God who is in Jerusalem.
[4] 'So everyone who remains, at whatever place he may sojourn, let the men of that place support him with silver and gold, with goods and cattle, together with a freewill offering for the house of God which is in Jerusalem.'"

Pro 21:1 LSB - [1] The king's heart is [like] channels of water in the hand of Yahweh; He turns it wherever He pleases.

Articles from Yahweh’s House Brought to Jerusalem

Ezr 1:5 LSB - [5] Then the heads of fathers' [households] of Judah and Benjamin and the priests and the Levites arose, [that is] of everyone whose spirit God had stirred to go up to rebuild the house of Yahweh which is in Jerusalem.

Ezr 1:7 LSB - [7] Also King Cyrus brought out the articles of the house of Yahweh, which Nebuchadnezzar had brought out from Jerusalem and put in the house of his gods;

The Exiles Who Returned

Ezr 2:1 LSB - [1] Now these are the people of the province who came up out of the captivity of the exiles whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had taken away into exile to Babylon, and who returned to Jerusalem and Judah, each to his city.

Ezr 2:63-65 LSB -
[63] The governor said to them that they should not eat from the most holy things until a priest stood with Urim and Thummim
[64] The whole assembly together [was] 42,360,
[65] besides their male and female slaves of whom [there were] 7,337; and they had 200 male and female singers.

The Altar is Built and Daily Offerings Begin

Ezr 3:6 LSB - [6] From the first day of the seventh month they began to offer burnt offerings to Yahweh, but the foundation of the temple of Yahweh had not been laid.

The Foundation of the Temple of Yahweh

Ezr 3:12 LSB - [12] Yet many of the priests and Levites and heads of fathers' [households], the old men who had seen the first house [of Yahweh], were weeping with a loud voice when the foundation of this house was laid before their eyes, while many in loud shouts with gladness [were] raising [their] voice,

Esther 6-10 - The Feast of Purim

The Man Whom the King Honors

Est 6:1 LSB - [1] During that night, sleep had fled from the king, so he said [for them] to bring the book of memoranda, the chronicles, and they were read before the king.

Mordecai Is Honored

Est 6:11 LSB - [11] So Haman took the robe and the horse and clothed Mordecai and led him [on horseback] through the city square and called out before him, "Thus it shall be done to the man whom the king delights to honor."

Esther’s Petition to the King

Est 7:5-6 LSB - [5] Then King Ahasuerus said--he said to Esther the Queen, "Who is this one, and where is this one, who fills his heart to do thus?" [6] So Esther said, "An adversary and an enemy is this evil Haman!" Then Haman became terrified before the king and queen.

Haman Is Hanged

Est 7:10 LSB - [10] So they hanged Haman on the gallows which he had set up for Mordecai, and the king's wrath subsided.

Esther Saves the Jews

The King’s Decree Avenges the Jews

Est 8:17 LSB - [17] And in each and every province and in each and every city, wherever the king's word and his law reached, there was gladness and joy for the Jews, a feast and a holiday. And many among the peoples of the land became Jews, for the dread of the Jews had fallen on them.

The Jews Strike Down Their Enemies

Est 9:19 LSB - [19] Therefore the Jews of the rural areas, who live in the rural towns, make the fourteenth day of the month Adar [a] holiday for gladness and feasting and sending portions [of food] to one another.

The Feast of Purim Is Established

Est 9:20-22 LSB - [20] Then Mordecai wrote down these events, and he sent letters to all the Jews who were in all the provinces of King Ahasuerus, both near and far, [21] to establish among them to celebrate the fourteenth day of the month Adar, and the fifteenth day of the same month, annually, [22] because on those days the Jews obtained rest for themselves from their enemies, and [it was a] month which was turned around for them from sorrow into gladness and from mourning into a holiday; that they should make them days of feasting and gladness and sending portions [of food] to one another and gifts to the poor.

Mordecai’s Greatness

Est 10:3 LSB - [3] For Mordecai the Jew was second [only] to King Ahasuerus and was great among the Jews and pleasing to his many [fellow] brothers, one who sought the good of his people and one who spoke for the peace of all his seed.

Esther 1-5 - If I Perish, I Perish

The Feasts of the King and Queen

Est 1:1-2 LSB -
[1] Now it happened in the days of Ahasuerus, the Ahasuerus who reigned from India to Ethiopia over 127 provinces
[2] in those days as King Ahasuerus sat on his royal throne which [was] at the citadel in Susa,

This king Ahasuerus is well known to history, though more commonly under the name Xerxes. He inherited the vast Persian Empire from his father, Darius I (who is mentioned in passages such as Ezra 4:24, 5:5-7, 6:1-15; Daniel 6:1 and 6:25; Haggai 1:15 and 2:10).

The fact of the existence of this king and circumstance is extremely well attested; archaeologists have discovered the ruins of the very palace where these events happened.

Queen Vashti’s Refusal

Est 1:22 LSB - [22] So he sent letters to all the king's provinces, to each province according to its script and to every people according to their tongue, that every man should be the ruler in his own house and the one who speaks in the tongue of his own people.

A Queen in Place of Vashti

Esther Advances in Favor

Est 2:10 LSB - [10] Esther did not tell [anyone] about her people or her kinsmen, for Mordecai had commanded her that she should not tell [anyone] about [them].

Est 2:16 LSB - [16] So Esther was taken to King Ahasuerus to his royal house in the tenth month which is the month Tebeth, in the seventh year of his reign.

Esther Is Made Queen

Est 2:17 LSB - [17] And the king loved Esther more than all the women, and she advanced in favor and lovingkindness before him more than all the virgins, so that he set the royal crown on her head and made her queen in place of Vashti.

Two of the King’s Eunuchs Are Hanged

Est 2:22 LSB - [22] But the matter became known to Mordecai, and he told [it] to Queen Esther, and Esther said [it] to the king in Mordecai's name.

Haman Seeks to Destroy the Jews

Est 3:4 LSB - [4] Now it happened when they had spoken daily to him and he would not listen to them, that they told Haman to see whether Mordecai's words would stand; for he had told them that he was a Jew.

Est 3:9 LSB - [9] "If it [seems] good to the king, let it be written down that they should perish, and I will pay 10,000 talents of silver into the hands of those who do this work, to bring into the king's treasuries."

Esther Writhes in Anguish

Est 4:11 LSB -
[11] "All the king's servants and the people of the king's provinces know that for any man or woman who comes to the king to the inner court who is not summoned, he has but one law, that he be put to death, unless the king holds out to him the golden scepter so that he may live. And I have not been summoned to come to the king for these thirty days."

Est 4:14 LSB - [14] "For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, and you and your father's house will perish. And who knows whether you have not reached royalty for such a time as this?"

Esther and the Jews Fast

Est 4:16 LSB - [16] "Go, gather all the Jews who are found in Susa, and fast for me; do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my young women also will fast in the same way. And thus I will go in to the king, which is not according to the law; and if I perish, I perish."

Esther Prepares a Feast

Est 5:8 LSB - [8] if I have found favor in the eyes of the king, and if it [seems] good to the king to give [heed to] my petition and to do my request, may the king and Haman come to the feast which I will prepare for them, and tomorrow I will do according to the word of the king."

Haman Recounts His Glory

Est 5:14 LSB - [14] Then Zeresh his wife and all his friends said to him, "Have a gallows fifty cubits high made and in the morning say to the king that Mordecai should be hanged on it; then go gladly with the king to the feast." And the word was good to Haman, so he had the gallows made.

Joel 1-3 - The Day of Yahweh Is Near

The Locusts Bring Desolation

Joe 1:4 LSB - [4] What the gnawing locust has left, the swarming locust has consumed; And what the swarming locust has left, the creeping locust has consumed; And what the creeping locust has left, the stripping locust has consumed.

Joe 1:12 LSB - [12] The vine dries up, And the fig tree fails; The pomegranate, the palm also, and the apple tree, All the trees of the field dry up. Indeed, rejoicing dries up From the sons of men.

The Day of Yahweh Is Near

Joe 1:15 LSB - [15] Alas for the day! For the day of Yahweh is near, And it will come as destruction from the Almighty.

Joe 1:19 LSB - [19] To You, O Yahweh, I cry; For fire has consumed the pastures of the wilderness, And the flame has burned up all the trees of the field.

Joe 2:1 LSB - [1] Blow a trumpet in Zion, And make a loud shout on My holy mountain! Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble, For the day of Yahweh is coming; Surely it is near,

Joe 2:11 LSB - [11] But Yahweh gives forth His voice before His military force; Surely His camp is very numerous, For mighty is he who does His word. The day of Yahweh is indeed great and very awesome, And who can endure it?

Return to Yahweh

Joe 2:12-14 LSB -
[12] "Yet even now," declares Yahweh, "Return to Me with all your heart And with fasting, weeping, and wailing;
[13] And tear your heart and not your garments." Now return to Yahweh your God, For He is gracious and compassionate, Slow to anger, abounding in lovingkindness, And relenting concerning evil.
[14] Who knows whether He will [not] turn and relent And leave a blessing behind Him, [Even] a grain offering and a drink offering For Yahweh your God?

Act 2:38 LSB - [38] And Peter [said] to them, "Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Yahweh Will Spare His People

Joe 2:18 LSB - [18] Then Yahweh will be zealous for His land And will spare His people.

Joe 2:27 LSB - [27] "Thus you will know that I am in the midst of Israel, And that I am Yahweh your God, And there is no other; And My people will never be put to shame.

Yahweh Will Pour Out His Spirit

Joe 2:28-29 LSB -
[28] "And it will be afterwards That I will pour out My Spirit on all mankind; And your sons and your daughters shall prophesy; Your old men will dream dreams; Your young men will see visions.
[29] "Even on the male slaves and female slaves I will in those days pour out My Spirit.

Act 2:16-18 LSB -
[16] but this is what was spoken through the prophet Joel
[17] 'AND IT SHALL BE IN THE LAST DAYS,' God says, 'THAT I WILL POUR OUT MY SPIRIT ON ALL MANKIND; AND YOUR SONS AND YOUR DAUGHTERS SHALL PROPHESY, AND YOUR YOUNG MEN SHALL SEE VISIONS, AND YOUR OLD MEN SHALL DREAM DREAMS;
[18] EVEN ON MY MALE SLAVES AND FEMALE SLAVES, I WILL IN THOSE DAYS POUR OUT MY SPIRIT And they shall prophesy.

Deliverance in the Day of Yahweh

Joe 2:32 LSB - [32] "And it will be that everyone who calls on the name of Yahweh Will be delivered; For on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem There will be those who escape, As Yahweh has said, Even among the survivors whom Yahweh calls.

Yahweh Will Judge the Nations

Joe 3:1-2 LSB -
[1] "For behold, in those days and at that time, When I restore the fortunes of Judah and Jerusalem,
[2] I will gather all the nations And bring them down to the valley of Jehoshaphat. Then I will enter into judgment with them there On behalf of My people and My inheritance, Israel, Whom they have scattered among the nations; And they have divided up My land.

Yahweh Dwells in Zion

Joe 3:18 LSB - [18] And it will be in that day, [That] the mountains will drip with sweet wine, And the hills will flow with milk, And all the brooks of Judah will flow with water; And a spring will go out from the house of Yahweh To water the valley of Shittim.

2 John, 3 John - Walk in Truth and Love

Walk in Truth and Love

2Jo 1:1-2 LSB -
[1] The elder to the elect lady and her children, whom I love in truth, and not only I, but also all who know the truth,
[2] for the sake of the truth which abides in us and will be with us forever:

Jhn 14:6 LSB - [6] Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father but through Me.

2Jo 1:5 LSB - [5] Now I ask you, lady, not as though [I were] writing to you a new commandment, but the one which we have had from the beginning, that we love one another.

Jhn 13:34-35 LSB -
[34] "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another.
[35] "By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."

2Jo 1:7 LSB - [7] For many deceivers have gone out into the world, those who do not confess Jesus Christ [as] coming in the flesh. This is the deceiver and the antichrist.

2Jo 1:9 LSB - [9] Anyone who goes too far and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God. The one who abides in the teaching, he has both the Father and the Son.

2Jo 1:10-11 LSB -
[10] If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into [your] house, and do not give him a greeting,
[11] for the one who gives him a greeting participates in his evil deeds.

Walking in the Truth

3Jo 1:1-2 LSB -
[1] The elder to the beloved Gaius, whom I love in truth.
[2] Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers.

3Jo 1:5-8 LSB -
[5] Beloved, you are acting faithfully in whatever work you do for the brothers, and [are doing] this [though they are] strangers;
[6] and they bore witness to your love before the church. You will do well to send them on their way in a manner worthy of God.
[7] For they went out for the sake of the Name, receiving nothing from the Gentiles.
[8] Therefore we ought to support such men, so that we may be fellow workers with the truth.

3Jo 1:15 LSB - [15] Peace [be] to you. The friends greet you. Greet the friends by name.

Jhn 15:15 LSB - [15] "No longer do I call you slaves, for the slave does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I have heard from My Father I have made known to you.

1 John 4-5 - Overcoming the World

Test the Spirits

1Jo 4:2-3 LSB -
[2] By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God,
[3] and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the [spirit] of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming, and now it is already in the world.

God Is Love

1Jo 4:7 LSB - [7] Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.

1Jo 4:9-10 LSB -
[9] By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him.
[10] In this is love, not that we have loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son [to be] the propitiation for our sins.

1Jo 4:15 LSB - [15] Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.

1Jo 4:19 LSB - [19] We love, because He first loved us.

Overcoming the World

1Jo 5:1 LSB - [1] Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and everyone who loves the One who gives [new] birth loves also the one who has been born of Him.

1Jo 5:2 LSB - [2] By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and do His commandments.

1Jo 5:3 LSB - [3] For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome.

1Jo 5:4-5 LSB -
[4] For everything that has been born of God overcomes the world; and this is the overcoming that has overcome the world--our faith.
[5] Who is the one who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

1Jo 5:11-12 LSB -
[11] And the witness is this, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.
[12] He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have that life.

That You May Know

1Jo 5:14-15 LSB -
[14] And this is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.
[15] And if we know that He hears us [in] whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him.

1Jo 5:18 LSB - [18] We know that no one who has been born of God sins; but He who was begotten of God keeps him, and the evil one does not touch him.

1 John 1-3 - Abide in Jesus Christ

The Word of Life

1Jo 1:1-3 LSB -
[1] What was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we beheld and touched with our hands, concerning the Word of Life--
[2] and the life was manifested, and we have seen and bear witness and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was manifested to us--
[3] what we have seen and heard we proclaim to you also, so that you may also have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ.

God Is Light

1Jo 1:5 LSB - [5] And this is the message we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all.

1Jo 1:7 LSB - [7] but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.

1Jo 1:9 LSB - [9] If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Psa 32:5 LSB -
[5] I acknowledged my sin to You,
And my iniquity I did not cover up;
I said, "I will confess my transgressions to Yahweh;"
And You forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah.

Jesus Christ Our Advocate

1Jo 2:1-2 LSB -
[1] My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous;
[2] and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only, but also for [those of] the whole world.

1Jo 2:3 LSB - [3] And by this we know that we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments.

1Jo 2:5 LSB - [5] but whoever keeps His word, truly in him the love of God has been perfected. By this we know that we are in Him:

Do Not Love the World

1Jo 2:15-16 LSB -
[15] Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
[16] For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world.

1Jo 2:22 LSB - [22] Who is the liar but the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, the one who denies the Father and the Son.

1Jo 2:24-25 LSB -
[24] As for you, let that which you heard from the beginning abide in you. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also will abide in the Son and in the Father.
[25] And this is the promise which He Himself made to us: eternal life.

Children of God, Love One Another

1Jo 3:1-3 LSB -
[1] See how great a love the Father has given to us, that we would be called children of God; and we are. For this reason the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.
[2] Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not been manifested as yet what we will be. We know that when He is manifested, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is.
[3] And everyone who has this hope [fixed] on Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.

1Jo 3:9 LSB - [9] Everyone who has been born of God does not sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.

1Jo 3:16 LSB - [16] By this we have known love, that He laid down His life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers.

1Jo 3:21 LSB - [21] Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence before God;

1Jo 3:23-24 LSB -
[23] And this is His commandment, that we believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as He gave a commandment to us.
[24] And the one who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. We know by this that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He gave us.

Zechariah 11-14 - Yahweh Will Be King over All

Woe to the Worthless Shepherd

Zec 11:12-13 LSB -
[12] And I said to them, "If it is good in your sight, give [me] my wages; but if not, never mind!" So they weighed out thirty [shekels] of silver as my wages.
[13] Then Yahweh said to me, "Throw it to the potter, [that] valuable price at which I was valued by them." So I took the thirty [shekels] of silver and threw them to the potter in the house of Yahweh.

Mat 27:3, 7 LSB - [3] Then when Judas, who had betrayed Him, saw that He had been condemned, he felt remorse and returned the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, ... [7] And taking counsel together, they bought with the money the Potter's Field as a burial place for strangers.

Yahweh Will Save

Zec 12:1 LSB - [1] The oracle of the word of Yahweh concerning Israel. [Thus] declares Yahweh who stretches out the heavens, lays the foundation of the earth, and forms the spirit of man within him,

Zec 12:8 ESV - [8] On that day the LORD will protect the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the feeblest among them on that day shall be like David, and the house of David shall be like God, like the angel of the LORD, going before them.

Mourning for the Pierced One

Zec 12:10 LSB - [10] "And I will pour out on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and of supplication, so that they will look on Me whom they have pierced; and they will mourn for Him, as one mourns for an only son, and they will weep bitterly over Him like the bitter weeping over a firstborn.

Jerusalem Refined and Tested

Zec 13:7 LSB - [7] "Awake, O sword, against My Shepherd And against the man, My Associate," Declares Yahweh of hosts. "Strike the Shepherd that the sheep may be scattered; And I will turn My hand against the little ones.

Mat 26:31 LSB - [31] Then Jesus said to them, "You will all fall away because of Me this night, for it is written, 'I WILL STRIKE DOWN THE SHEPHERD, AND THE SHEEP OF THE FLOCK SHALL BE SCATTERED.'

Zec 13:9 LSB -
[9] "And I will bring the third part through the fire
And refine them as silver is refined
And test them as gold is tested.
They will call on My name,
And I will answer them;
I will say, 'They are My people,'
And they will say, 'Yahweh is my God.'"

Yahweh Will Battle the Nations

Zec 14:3 LSB - [3] Then Yahweh will go forth and fight against those nations, as the day when He fights on a day of battle.

Zec 14:6 LSB - [6] And it will be in that day, [that] there will be no light; the luminaries will dwindle.

Yahweh Will Be King over All

Zec 14:9 LSB - [9] And Yahweh will be king over all the earth; in that day Yahweh will be [the only] one, and His name one.

Zec 14:12 LSB - [12] Now this will be the plague with which Yahweh will plague all the peoples who have gone to war against Jerusalem; their flesh will rot while they stand on their feet, and their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongue will rot in their mouth.

Zec 14:14 LSB - [14] And Judah also will fight at Jerusalem; and the wealth of all the surrounding nations will be gathered, gold and silver and garments in great abundance.

Zec 14:16-17 LSB -
[16] Then it will be that any who are left of all the nations that went against Jerusalem will go up from year to year to worship the King, Yahweh of hosts, and to celebrate the Feast of Booths
[17] And it will be that whichever of the families of the earth does not go up to Jerusalem to worship the King, Yahweh of hosts, there will be no rain on them.

Zechariah 7-10 - Yahweh Will Redeem Judah and Israel

The People’s Hard Hearts

Zec 7:5-6 LSB - [5] "Speak to all the people of the land and to the priests, saying, 'When you fasted and mourned in the fifth and seventh months these seventy years, was it actually for Me that you fasted? [6] 'And when you eat and when you drink, are you not eating for yourselves and are you not drinking for yourselves?

1Co 10:31 LSB - [31] Whether, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

Zec 7:11-12 LSB - [11] "But they refused to give heed and turned a stubborn shoulder and dulled their ears from hearing. [12] "And they made their hearts diamond-hard so that they could not hear the law and the words which Yahweh of hosts had sent by His Spirit by the hand of the former prophets; therefore great wrath came from Yahweh of hosts.

Jerusalem, the City of Truth

Zec 8:3 LSB - [3] "Thus says Yahweh, 'I will return to Zion and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem. Then Jerusalem will be called the City of Truth, and the mountain of Yahweh of hosts [will be called] the Holy Mountain.'

Zec 8:23 LSB - [23] "Thus says Yahweh of hosts, 'In those days ten men from every tongue of the nations will take hold of the garment of a Jew, saying, "Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you."'"

Isa 2:2-4 LSB -
[2] Now it will be that In the last days
The mountain of the house of Yahweh
Will be established as the head of the mountains,
And will be lifted up above the hills;
And all the nations will stream to it.
[3] And many peoples will come and say,
"Come, let us go up to the mountain of Yahweh,
To the house of the God of Jacob,
That He may instruct us from His ways
And that we may walk in His paths."
For from Zion the law will go forth
And the word of Yahweh from Jerusalem.
[4] And He will judge between the nations,
And will render decisions for many peoples;
And they will hammer their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks.
Nation will not lift up sword against nation,
And never again will they learn war.

Yahweh’s Oracle Against Israel’s Enemies

Zec 9:7 LSB - [7] And I will remove their blood from their mouth And their detestable things from between their teeth. Then they also will be a remnant for our God, And be like a clan in Judah, And Ekron like a Jebusite.

The Coming King of Zion

Zec 9:9 LSB - [9] Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Make a loud shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; He is righteous and endowed with salvation, Lowly and mounted on a donkey, Even on a colt, the foal of a pack animal.

Mat 21:4-5 LSB -
[4] And this took place in order that what was spoken through the prophet would be fulfilled, saying,
[5] "SAY TO THE DAUGHTER OF ZION, 'BEHOLD YOUR KING IS COMING TO YOU, LOWLY, AND MOUNTED ON A DONKEY, AND ON A COLT, THE FOAL OF A PACK ANIMAL.'"

Zec 9:13 LSB - [13] For I will bend Judah as My bow; I will fill the bow with Ephraim. And I will rouse up your sons, O Zion, against your sons, O Greece; And I will make you like a mighty man's sword.

Zec 9:16 LSB - [16] And Yahweh their God will save them in that day As the flock of His people; For [they are as] the stones of a crown, Sparkling in His land.

Yahweh Will Redeem Judah and Israel

Zec 10:6 LSB - [6] "I will make the house of Judah mighty, And I will save the house of Joseph, And I will cause them to return, Because I have had compassion on them; And they will be as though I had not rejected them, For I am Yahweh their God, and I will answer them.

Zechariah 4-6 - The Golden Lampstand

The Golden Lampstand

Zec 4:2-3 LSB - [2] And he said to me, "What do you see?" And I said, "I see, and behold, a lampstand all of gold with its bowl on the top of it, and its seven lamps on it with seven spouts belonging to each of the lamps which are on the top of it, [3] also two olive trees by it, one on the right side of the bowl and the other on its left side."

Zec 4:6-7 LSB - [6] Then he answered and spoke to me, saying, "This is the word of Yahweh to Zerubbabel, saying, 'Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,' says Yahweh of hosts. [7] 'What are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel [you will become] a plain; and he will bring forth the top stone with shouts of "Grace, grace to it!"'"

Zec 4:9 LSB - [9] "The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house, and his hands will finish [it]. Then you will know that Yahweh of hosts has sent me to you.

Zec 4:12, 14 LSB -
[12] And I answered the second time and said to him, "What are the two olive branches which are beside the two golden pipes, which empty the golden [oil] from themselves?" ...
[14] Then he said, "These are the two anointed ones who are standing by the Lord of all the earth."

A Flying Scroll

Zec 5:1 LSB - [1] Then I lifted up my eyes again and saw, and behold, a flying scroll.

Zec 5:2 LSB - [2] And he said to me, "What do you see?" And I said, "I see a flying scroll; its length is twenty cubits and its width ten cubits."

Zec 5:4 LSB - [4] "I will make it go forth," declares Yahweh of hosts, "and it will enter the house of the thief and the house of the one who swears falsely by My name; and it will spend the night within that house and consume it with its timber and stones."

A Vision of a Woman in a Basket

Zec 5:7, 11 ESV - [7] And behold, the leaden cover was lifted, and there was a woman sitting in the basket! ... [11] He said to me, "To the land of Shinar, to build a house for it. And when this is prepared, they will set the basket down there on its base."

A Vision of Four Chariots

Zec 6:2-3 ESV - [2] The first chariot had red horses, the second black horses, [3] the third white horses, and the fourth chariot dappled horses--all of them strong.

Zec 6:8 ESV - [8] Then he cried to me, "Behold, those who go toward the north country have set my Spirit at rest in the north country."

The Crown and the Temple

Zec 6:12 LSB - [12] "Then you will say to him, 'Thus says Yahweh of hosts, "Behold, a man whose name is Branch, and He will branch out from where He is; and He will build the temple of Yahweh.

Jer 33:15 LSB - [15] 'In those days and at that time I will cause a righteous Branch of David to branch forth; and He shall do justice and righteousness on the earth.

Zec 6:13 LSB - [13] "Indeed, it is He who will build the temple of Yahweh, and He who will bear the splendor and sit and rule on His throne. Thus, He will be a priest on His throne, and the counsel of peace will be between the two offices."'

Zechariah 1-3 - My servant the Branch

Return to Me, Declares Yahweh

Zec 1:3 LSB - [3] "Therefore say to them, 'Thus says Yahweh of hosts, "Return to Me," declares Yahweh of hosts, "that I may return to you," says Yahweh of hosts.

A Man on a Red Horse

Zec 1:8 LSB - [8] I saw at night, and behold, a man was riding on a red horse, and he was standing among the myrtle trees which were in the ravine, with red, sorrel, and white horses behind him.

Zec 1:10-11 LSB - [10] And the man who was standing among the myrtle trees answered and said, "These are those whom Yahweh has sent to patrol the earth." [11] So they answered the angel of Yahweh who was standing among the myrtle trees and said, "We have patrolled the earth, and behold, all the earth is sitting [still] and quiet."

Zec 1:12, 16 LSB -
[12] Then the angel of Yahweh answered and said, "O Yahweh of hosts, how long will You have no compassion for Jerusalem and the cities of Judah, with which You have been indignant these seventy years?" ...
[16] 'Therefore thus says Yahweh, "I will return to Jerusalem with compassion; My house will be built in it," declares Yahweh of hosts, "and a measuring line will be stretched over Jerusalem."'

Four Horns and Craftsmen

Zec 1:21 LSB - [21] And I said, "What are these coming to do?" And he said, "These are the horns which have scattered Judah so that no man lifts up his head; but these [craftsmen] have come to cause them to tremble, to throw down the horns of the nations who have lifted up [their] horns against the land of Judah in order to scatter it."

A Man with a Measuring Cord

Zec 2:4-5 LSB - [4] and said to him, "Run, speak to that young man, saying, 'Jerusalem will be inhabited without walls because of the multitude of men and cattle within it. [5] 'Indeed I,' declares Yahweh, 'will be a wall of fire around her, and I will be the glory in her midst.'"

Zec 2:8 LSB - [8] For thus says Yahweh of hosts, "After glory He has sent Me against the nations which have taken you as spoil, for he who touches you, touches the apple of His eye.

Zec 2:11 LSB - [11] "And many nations will join themselves to Yahweh in that day and will become My people. Then I will dwell in your midst, and you will know that Yahweh of hosts has sent Me to you.

The High Priest and a Branch

Zec 3:3-4 LSB - [3] Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments and standing before the angel. [4] And he answered and spoke to those who were standing before him, saying, "Remove the filthy garments from him." Again he said to him, "See, I have made your iniquity pass away from you and will clothe you with festal robes."

Zec 3:8 LSB - [8] 'Now listen, Joshua the high priest, you and your friends who are sitting in front of you--indeed they are men who are a wondrous sign, for behold, I am going to bring in My servant the Branch.

Jer 23:5 LSB - [5] "Behold, [the] days are coming," declares Yahweh, "When I will raise up for David a righteous Branch; And He will reign as king and prosper And do justice and righteousness in the land.

Zec 3:9-10 LSB - [9] 'For behold, the stone that I have put before Joshua; on one stone are seven eyes. Behold, I will engrave an inscription on it,' declares Yahweh of hosts, 'and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day. [10] 'In that day,' declares Yahweh of hosts, 'every one of you will call for his neighbor to [sit] under [his] vine and under [his] fig tree.'"

Rev 5:4-7 LSB - [4] Then I was crying greatly because no one was found worthy to open the scroll or to look into it. [5] And one of the elders said to me, "Stop crying! Behold, the Lion that is from the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has overcome so as to open the scroll and its seven seals." [6] Then I saw in the midst of the throne and the four living creatures and in the midst of the elders a Lamb standing, as if slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God, sent out into all the earth. [7] And He came and took [the scroll] out of the right hand of Him who sits on the throne.

1Ki 4:25 LSB - [25] So Judah and Israel lived in security, every man under his vine and his fig tree, from Dan even to Beersheba, all the days of Solomon.

John 19-21 Jesus’ Command to Follow Him

Jesus Flogged and Rejected as King

Jhn 19:1 LSB - [1] Pilate then took Jesus and flogged Him.

The Crucifixion

Jhn 19:17-18 LSB -
[17] They took Jesus, therefore, and He went out, bearing His own cross, to the place called the Place of a Skull, which is called in Hebrew, Golgotha.
[18] There they crucified Him, and with Him two other men, one on either side, and Jesus in between.

Scripture Fulfilled--It Is Finished

Jhn 19:28 LSB - [28] After this, Jesus, knowing that all things had already been finished, in order to finish the Scripture, said, "I am thirsty."

Jhn 19:36-37 LSB -
[36] For these things came to pass in order that the Scripture would be fulfilled, "NOT A BONE OF HIM SHALL BE BROKEN."
[37] And again another Scripture says, "THEY SHALL LOOK ON HIM WHOM THEY PIERCED."

Jesus Is Buried

Jhn 19:41-42 LSB -
[41] Now in the place where He was crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb in which no one had yet been laid.
[42] Therefore because of the Jewish day of Preparation, since the tomb was nearby, they laid Jesus there.

The Empty Tomb

Jhn 20:1-2 LSB -
[1] Now on the first [day] of the week, Mary Magdalene came early to the tomb, while it was still dark, and saw the stone [already] taken away from the tomb.
[2] So she ran and came to Simon Peter and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and said to them, "They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid Him."

Jesus Appears to Mary MagdaleneJhn 20:17-18 LSB -

[17] Jesus said to her, "Stop clinging to Me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to My brothers and say to them, 'I ascend to My Father and your Father, and My God and your God.'"
[18] Mary Magdalene came, announcing to the disciples, "I have seen the Lord," and [that] He had said these things to her.

Jesus Appears to His Disciples

Jhn 20:21-23 LSB -
[21] So Jesus said to them again, "Peace [be] with you; as the Father has sent Me, I also send you."
[22] And when He had said this, He breathed on [them] and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit.
[23] "If you forgive the sins of any, [their sins] have been forgiven them; if you retain the [sins] of any, they have been retained."

Why This Gospel Was Written

Jhn 20:30-31 LSB -
[30] Therefore many other signs Jesus also did in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book;
[31] but these have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name.

Jesus Appears at the Sea of Galilee

Jhn 21:3 LSB - [3] Simon Peter said to them, "I am going fishing." They said to him, "We will also come with you." They went out and got into the boat; and that night they caught nothing.

Jhn 21:9-11 LSB -
[9] So when they got out on the land, they saw a charcoal fire in place and fish placed on it, and bread. [10] Jesus said to them, "Bring some of the fish which you have now caught."
[11] Simon Peter went up and drew the net to land, full of large fish, 153; and although there were so many, the net was not torn.

Jesus Provides Breakfast

Peter’s Restoration and Commission

Jhn 21:17 LSB - [17] He said to him the third time, "Simon, [son] of John, do you love Me?" Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, "Do you love Me?" And he said to Him, "Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You." Jesus said to him, "Tend My sheep.

Jesus’ Command to Follow Him

Jhn 21:19 LSB - [19] Now this He said, signifying by what kind of death he would glorify God. And when He had spoken this, He said to him, "Follow Me!"

Jhn 21:25 LSB - [25] And there are also many other things which Jesus did, which if they were written one after the other, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that would be written.

John 16-18 - I Have Overcome the World

Jesus’ Warning

The Spirit Is Promised Again

Jhn 16:8-11 LSB -
[8] "And He, when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment
[9] concerning sin, because they do not believe in Me;
[10] and concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father and you no longer see Me;
[11] and concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged.

Sorrow Turned to Joy

Jhn 16:21-22 LSB -
[21] "Whenever a woman is in labor she has sorrow, because her hour has come; but when she gives birth to the child, she no longer remembers the suffering because of the joy that a child has been born into the world.
[22] "Therefore you too have sorrow now; but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one [will] take your joy away from you.

I Have Overcome the World

Jhn 16:32-33 LSB -
[32] "Behold, an hour is coming, and has [already] come, for you to be scattered, each to his own [home], and to leave Me alone; and [yet] I am not alone, because the Father is with Me.
[33] "These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world."

The High Priestly Prayer

Jhn 17:2-3 LSB -
[2] even as You gave Him authority over all flesh, that to all whom You have given Him, He may give eternal life
[3] "And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.

Jesus Prays for His Disciples

Jhn 17:6 LSB - [6] "I have manifested Your name to the men whom You gave Me out of the world; they were Yours and You gave them to Me, and they have kept Your word.

Jhn 17:9 LSB - [9] "I ask on their behalf; I do not ask on behalf of the world but of those whom You have given Me; for they are Yours;

Jhn 17:17-19 LSB -
[17] "Sanctify them by the truth; Your word is truth.
[18] "As You sent Me into the world, I also sent them into the world.
[19] "For their sake I sanctify Myself, that they themselves also may be sanctified in truth.

Jhn 17:20-21 LSB -
[20] "I do not ask on behalf of these alone, but for those also who believe in Me through their word;
[21] that they may all be one; even as You, Father, [are] in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me.

Jesus Betrayed and Arrested

Jhn 18:11 LSB - [11] So Jesus said to Peter, "Put the sword into the sheath; the cup which the Father has given Me, shall I not drink it?"

Jesus Before the Priests; Peter Denies Jesus

Jhn 18:17, 27 LSB -
[17] Then the servant-girl who kept the door said to Peter, "Are you not also [one] of this man's disciples?" He said, "I am not." ...
[27] Peter then denied [it] again, and immediately a rooster crowed.

Jesus Before Pilate

Jhn 18:37 LSB - [37] Therefore Pilate said to Him, "So You are a king?" Jesus answered, "You yourself said I am a king. For this I have been born, and for this I have come into the world, to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice."

John 13-15 - I Am the True Vine

The Lord’s Supper

Jhn 13:1 LSB - [1] Now before the Feast of the Passover, Jesus knowing that His hour had come that He would depart out of this world to the Father, having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end.

Jesus Washes the Disciples’ Feet

Jhn 13:14-15 LSB - [14] "If I then, the Lord and the Teacher, washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet. [15] "For I gave you an example that you also should do as I did to you.

Jesus Predicts His Betrayal

Jhn 13:34-35 LSB -
[34] "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another.
[35] "By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."

I Am the Way, the Truth, and the Life

Jhn 14:2-3 LSB -
[2] "In My Father's house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you.
[3] "And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, [there] you may be also.

Jhn 14:6 LSB - [6] Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father but through Me.

Oneness with the Father

Jhn 14:12 LSB - [12] "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater [works] than these he will do because I go to the Father.

Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit

Jhn 14:16-17 LSB -
[16] "And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Advocate, that He may be with you forever;
[17] the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him. You know Him because He abides with you and will be in you.

Jhn 14:21 LSB - [21] "He who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me; and he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will disclose Myself to him."

Jhn 14:25-26 LSB -
[25] "These things I have spoken to you while abiding with you.
[26] "But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.

I Am the True Vine

Jhn 15:1-2 LSB -
[1] "I am the true vine, and My Father is the vine-grower.
[2] "Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every [branch] that bears fruit, He cleans it so that it may bear more fruit.

Jhn 15:5 LSB - [5] "I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.

Jesus’ Commandment Is Love

Jhn 15:12 LSB - [12] "This is My commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you.

Jhn 15:13-14 LSB -
[13] "Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.
[14] "You are My friends if you do what I command you.

If the World Hates You

Jhn 15:18-19 LSB -
[18] "If the world hates you, know that it has hated Me before [it hated] you.
[19] "If you were of the world, the world would love its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, because of this the world hates you.

Jhn 15:26-27 LSB -
[26] "When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will bear witness about Me,
[27] and you [will] bear witness also, because you have been with Me from the beginning.

John 10-12 - I Am the Good Shepherd

I Am the Good Shepherd

Jhn 10:1-5 LSB -
[1] "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter by the door into the fold of the sheep, but climbs up some other way, he is a thief and a robber.
[2] "But he who enters by the door is a shepherd of the sheep.
[3] "To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.
[4] "When he brings all his own out, he goes ahead of them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice.
[5] "A stranger they will never follow, but will flee from him, because they do not know the voice of strangers."

Jhn 10:7, 9 LSB -
[7] So Jesus said to them again, "Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. ...
[9] "I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.

Psa 118:19-20 LSB - [19] Open to me the gates of righteousness; I shall enter through them, I shall give thanks to Yah. [20] This is the gate of Yahweh; The righteous will enter through it.

Jhn 10:11, 14-15 LSB -
[11] "I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep. ...
[14] "I am the good shepherd, and I know My own and My own know Me,
[15] even as the Father knows Me and I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep.

Jhn 10:16 LSB - [16] "And I have other sheep, which are not from this fold; I must bring them also, and they will hear My voice; and they will become one flock [with] one shepherd.

Jhn 10:17-18 LSB -
[17] "For this reason the Father loves Me, because I lay down My life so that I may take it again.
[18] "No one takes it away from Me, but from Myself, I lay it down. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This commandment I received from My Father."

I and the Father Are One

Jhn 10:26-28 LSB -
[26] "But you do not believe because you are not of My sheep.
[27] "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me;
[28] and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish--ever; and no one will snatch them out of My hand.

The Death and Resurrection of Lazarus

Jhn 11:25-26 LSB -
[25] Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies, [26] and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die--ever. Do you believe this?"

Jhn 11:43-44 LSB -
[43] And when He had said these things, He cried out with a loud voice, "Lazarus, come forth."
[44] The man who had died came forth, bound hand and foot with wrappings, and his face was wrapped around with a cloth. Jesus said to them, "Unbind him, and let him go."

The Leaders Plot to Kill Jesus

Jhn 11:51-52 LSB -
[51] Now he did not say this from himself, but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus was going to die for the nation,
[52] and not for the nation only, but in order that He might also gather together into one the children of God who are scattered abroad.

Mary Anoints Jesus with Costly Perfume

Jhn 12:3 LSB - [3] Mary then took a litra of perfume of very costly pure nard, and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped His feet with her hair; and the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.

The Triumphal Entry

Jhn 12:14-15 LSB - [14] And Jesus, finding a young donkey, sat on it; as it is written, [15] "FEAR NOT, DAUGHTER OF ZION; BEHOLD, YOUR KING IS COMING, SEATED ON A DONKEY'S COLT."

Some Greeks Seek Jesus

Jhn 12:23-26 LSB -
[23] And Jesus answered them, saying, "The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.
[24] "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.
[25] "He who loves his life loses it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it to life eternal. [26] "If anyone serves Me, he must follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also; if anyone serves Me, the Father will honor him.

The Son of Man Must Be Lifted Up

Jhn 12:37-40 LSB -
[37] But though He had done so many signs before them, they [still] were not believing in Him,
[38] so that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spoke: "LORD, WHO HAS BELIEVED OUR REPORT? AND TO WHOM HAS THE ARM OF THE LORD BEEN REVEALED?"
[39] For this reason they could not believe, for Isaiah said again,
[40] "HE HAS BLINDED THEIR EYES AND HE HARDENED THEIR HEART, LEST THEY SEE WITH THEIR EYES AND UNDERSTAND WITH THEIR HEART, AND RETURN AND I HEAL THEM."

Jhn 12:47-48 LSB - [47] "And if anyone hears My words and does not keep them, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world, but to save the world. [48] "He who rejects Me and does not receive My words, has one who judges him; the word I spoke is what will judge him on the last day.

I AM in John

  1. “I am the bread of life (John 6:35414851).
  2. “I am the light of the world (John 8:129:5).
  3. I am the door (John 10:7 and 9, ESV).
  4. “I am the good shepherd (John 10:1114).
  5. “I am the resurrection and the life (John 11:25).
  6. “I am the way and the truth and the life (John 14:6).
  7. “I am the true vine (John 15:15).

John 7-9 - One Thing I Do Know

Jesus Teaches at the Feast of Booths

Jhn 7:23 LSB - [23] "If a man receives circumcision on the Sabbath so that the Law of Moses will not be broken, are you angry with Me because I made an entire man well on [the] Sabbath?

Jhn 7:37-39 LSB -
[37] Now on the last day, the great [day] of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink.
[38] "He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, 'From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.'"
[39] But this He spoke of the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were going to receive; for the Spirit was not yet [given], because Jesus was not yet glorified.

Division of People over Jesus

Jhn 7:41-42 LSB -
[41] Others were saying, "This is the Christ." Still others were saying, "[No], for is the Christ going to come from Galilee?
[42] "Has not the Scripture said that the Christ comes from the seed of David and from Bethlehem, the village where David was?"

Mic 5:2 ESV - [2]  But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, who are too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel, whose coming forth is from of old, from ancient days.

An Adulteress Forgiven

I Am the Light of the World

Jhn 8:12 LSB - [12] Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, "I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will never walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life."

Jhn 8:28 LSB - [28] So Jesus said, "When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am [He], and I do nothing from Myself, but I speak these things as the Father taught Me.

The Son Will Make You Free

Jhn 8:31-32 LSB - [31] So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, "If you abide in My word, [then] you are truly My disciples; [32] and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free."

Jhn 8:58 LSB - [58] Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am."

Jesus Heals a Man Born Blind

Jhn 9:3 LSB - [3] Jesus answered, "Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but [this was] so that the works of God might be manifested in him.

Jhn 9:11 LSB - [11] He answered, "The man who is called Jesus made clay, and rubbed my eyes, and said to me, 'Go to Siloam and wash'; so when I went away and washed, I received sight."

Controversy over the Man Born Blind

Jhn 9:17 LSB - [17] Therefore, they said to the blind man again, "What do you say about Him, since He opened your eyes?" And he said, "He is a prophet."

Jhn 9:25 LSB - [25] He then answered, "Whether He is a sinner, I do not know; one thing I do know, that though I was blind, now I see."

Jhn 9:30-33 LSB -
[30] The man answered and said to them, "Well, here is a marvelous thing, that you do not know where He is from, and He opened my eyes. [31] "We know that God does not listen to sinners; but if anyone is God-fearing and does His will, He listens to him. [32] "Since the beginning of time it has never been heard that anyone opened the eyes of a person born blind. [33] "If this man were not from God, He could do nothing."

Jesus Affirms His Deity

[36] He answered and said, "Who is He, Lord, that I may believe in Him?" [37] Jesus said to him, "You have both seen Him, and He is the one who is talking with you." [38] And he said, "Lord, I believe." And he worshiped Him.
