True and False Fasting

Isa 58:6-7 LSB – 

[6] "Is this not the fast which I choose, 

To loosen the bonds of wickedness, 

To release the bands of the yoke, 

And to let the oppressed go free 

And break every yoke? 

[7] "Is it not to divide your bread with the hungry 

And bring the afflicted homeless into the house; 

When you see the naked, you cover him; 

And not to hide yourself from your own flesh?

Keeping the Sabbath

Separation from Yahweh

Isa 59:1-2 LSB – 

[1] Behold, the hand of Yahweh is not so short 

That it cannot save; 

Nor is His ear so dull 

That it cannot hear. 

[2] But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, 

And your sins have hidden [His] face from you so that He does not hear.

Transgressing and Denying Yahweh

Isa 59:20-21 LSB – 

[20] "A Redeemer will come to Zion, 

And to those who turn from transgression in Jacob," declares Yahweh. 

[21] "As for Me, this is My covenant with them," says Yahweh: "My Spirit which is upon you, and My words which I have put in your mouth, shall not depart from your mouth, nor from the mouth of your seed, nor from the mouth of your seed's seed," says Yahweh, "from now and forever."

A Glorified Zion

Isa 60:1-2 LSB – 

[1] "Arise, shine, for your light has come, 

And the glory of Yahweh has risen upon you. 

[2] "For behold, darkness will cover the earth 

And dense gloom the peoples; 

But Yahweh will rise upon you, 

And His glory will appear upon you.

Isa 60:19-20 LSB – 

[19] "No longer will you have the sun for light by day, 

Nor for brightness will the moon give you light; 

But you will have Yahweh for an everlasting light, 

And your God for your glory. 

[20] "Your sun will no longer set, 

Nor will your moon wane; 

For you will have Yahweh for an everlasting light, 

And the days of your mourning will be finished.

Rev 21:23 LSB – [23] And the city has no need of the sun or of the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God has illumined it, and its lamp [is] the Lamb.

Jhn 8:12 LSB – [12] Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, "I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will never walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life."
