Isaiah 52-54 - He was pierced through for our transgressions

Hope for Captive Zion

Isa 52:7 LSB - 

[7] How lovely on the mountains 

Are the feet of him who proclaims good news, 

Who announces peace 

And proclaims good news of good things, 

Who announces salvation, 

[And] says to Zion, "Your God reigns!"

The Exalted Servant

Isa 52:13-14 ESV - 

[13] Behold, my servant shall act wisely; 

he shall be high and lifted up, 

and shall be exalted. 

[14] As many were astonished at you-- 

his appearance was so marred, 

beyond human semblance, 

and his form beyond that of the children of mankind--

The Suffering Servant

Isa 53:2-3 LSB - 

[2] For He grew up before Him like a tender shoot, 

And like a root out of parched ground; 

He has no [stately] form or majesty 

That we should look upon Him, 

Nor appearance that we should desire Him. 

[3] He was despised and forsaken of men, 

A man of sorrows and acquainted with grief; 

And like one from whom men hide their face 

He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.

Isa 53:4-5 LSB - 

[4] Surely our griefs He Himself bore, 

And our sorrows He carried; 

Yet we ourselves esteemed Him stricken, 

Smitten of God, and afflicted. 

[5] But He was pierced through for our transgressions, 

He was crushed for our iniquities; 

The chastening for our peace [fell] upon Him, 

And by His wounds we are healed.

Isa 53:6 LSB - 

[6] All of us like sheep have gone astray, 

Each of us has turned to his own way; 

But Yahweh has caused the iniquity of us all 

To fall on Him.

Isa 53:10-11 LSB - 

[10] But Yahweh was pleased 

To crush Him, putting [Him] to grief; 

If You would place His soul [as] a guilt offering, 

He will see [His] seed, 

He will prolong [His] days, 

And the good pleasure of Yahweh will succeed in His hand. 

[11] As a result of the anguish of His soul, 

He will see [it and] be satisfied; 

By His knowledge the Righteous One, 

My Servant, will justify the many, 

As He will bear their iniquities.

Isa 53:12 LSB - 

[12] Therefore, I will divide for Him a portion with the many, 

And He will divide the spoil with the strong; 

Because He poured out His soul to death, 

And was numbered with the transgressors; 

Yet He Himself bore the sin of many, 

And interceded for the transgressors.

The Inheritance of the Slaves of Yahweh

Isa 54:5 LSB - 

[5] "For your husband is your Maker, 

Whose name is Yahweh of hosts; 

And your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel, 

Who is called the God of all the earth.
