Guard the Treasure Entrusted to You
2Ti 1:1 LSB - [1] Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, according to the promise of life in Christ Jesus,
2Ti 1:7 LSB - [7] For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and self-discipline.
2Ti 1:9-10 LSB - [9] who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus from all eternity, [10] but now has been manifested by the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, who abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel,
2Ti 1:12 LSB - [12] For this reason I also suffer these things, but I am not ashamed; for I know whom I have believed and I am convinced that He is able to guard what I have entrusted to Him until that day.
[Key: A]
Verse 1I know not why God's wondrous graceTo me He hath made known,Nor why, unworthy, Christ in loveRedeemed me for His own.But I know Whom I have believèd,And am persuaded that He is ableTo keep that which I've committedUnto Him against that day.Verse 2I know not how this saving faithTo me He did impart,Nor how believing in His WordWrought peace within my heart.But I know Whom I have believèd,And am persuaded that He is ableTo keep that which I've committedUnto Him against that day.Verse 3I know not how the Spirit moves,Convincing men of sin,Revealing Jesus through the Word,Creating faith in Him.But I know Whom I have believèd,And am persuaded that He is ableTo keep that which I've committedUnto Him against that day.Verse 4I know not what of good or illMay be reserved for me,Of weary ways or golden days,Before His face I see.But I know Whom I have believèd,And am persuaded that He is ableTo keep that which I've committedUnto Him against that day.Verse 5I know not when my Lord may come,At night or noonday fair,Nor if I'll walk the vale with Him,Or meet Him in the air.But I know Whom I have believèd,And am persuaded that He is ableTo keep that which I've committedUnto Him against that day.
2Ti 1:13-14 LSB -
[13] Hold to the standard of sound words which you have heard from me, in the faith and love which are in Christ Jesus.
[14] Guard, through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us, the treasure which has been entrusted to [you].
Remember Jesus Christ
2Ti 2:8-10 LSB -
[8] Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, of the seed of David, according to my gospel,
[9] for which I endure hardship even to chains as a criminal. But the word of God has not been chained. [10] For this reason I endure all things for the sake of the elect, so that they also may obtain the salvation, which is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory.
2Ti 2:11-13 LSB -
[11] It is a trustworthy saying: For if we died with Him, we will also live with Him;
[12] If we endure, we will also reign with Him; If we will deny Him, He also will deny us;
[13] If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.
Accurately Handle the Word of Truth
2Ti 2:20-21 LSB - [20] Now in a large house there are not only gold and silver vessels, but also vessels of wood and of clay, and some to honor and some to dishonor. [21] Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from these [things], he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified, useful to the Master, having been prepared for every good work.
2Ti 2:22 LSB - [22] Now flee from youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love, [and] peace, with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.
2Ti 2:24-26 LSB -
[24] And the Lord's slave must not be quarrelsome, but be kind to all, able to teach, patient when wronged,
[25] with gentleness correcting those who are in opposition, if perhaps God may give them repentance leading to the full knowledge of the truth,
[26] and they may come to their senses [and escape] from the snare of the devil, having been held captive by him to do his will.
Difficult Times Will Come
2Ti 3:1-5 LSB - [1] But know this, that in the last days difficult times will come. [2] For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, [3] unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, without gentleness, without love for good, [4] treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, [5] holding to a form of godliness, but having denied its power. Keep away from such men as these.
2Ti 3:10-12 LSB - [10] But you followed my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, patience, love, perseverance, [11] persecutions, [and] sufferings, such as happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, [and] at Lystra. What persecutions I endured, and out of them all the Lord rescued me! [12] Indeed, all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.
2Ti 3:16-17 LSB - [16] All Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness, [17] so that the man of God may be equipped, having been thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Preach the Word
2Ti 4:1-2 LSB - [1] I solemnly charge [you] in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingdom: [2] preach the word; be ready in season [and] out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and teaching.
2Ti 4:5 LSB - [5] But you, be sober in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.
2Ti 4:6-8 LSB - [6] For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure has come. [7] I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith. [8] In the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing.
Personal Concerns
2Ti 4:18 LSB - [18] The Lord will rescue me from every evil deed, and will save me unto His heavenly kingdom; to Him [be] the glory forever and ever. Amen.
