Luke 19-21

Zaccheus Is Saved

[5] And when Jesus came to the place, He looked up and said to him, "Zaccheus, hurry and come down, for today I must stay at your house." 

[6] And he hurried and came down and received Him gladly. [Luk 19:5-6 LSB]

[9] And Jesus said to him, "Today salvation has come to this house, because he, too, is a son of Abraham. [10] "For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save the lost." [Luk 19:9-10 LSB]

Parable of the Ten Minas

 [26] 'I tell you that to everyone who has, more shall be given, but from the one who does not have, even what he does have shall be taken away. [Luk 19:26 LSB]

The Triumphal Entry

[35] And they brought it to Jesus, and after they threw their garments on the colt, they put Jesus [on it]. [36] And as He was going, they were spreading their garments on the road. 

[37] Now as soon as He was approaching, near the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to praise God, rejoicing with a loud voice for all the miracles which they had seen, [38] saying, "BLESSED IS THE KING WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD. [9] Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Make a loud shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; He is righteous and endowed with salvation, Lowly and mounted on a donkey, Even on a colt, the foal of a pack animal. [Zec 9:9 LSB]

Lament over Jerusalem

[43] "For the days will come upon you when your enemies will throw up a barricade against you, and surround you and hem you in on every side, [44] and they will level you to the ground and your children within you, and they will not leave in you one stone upon another, because you did not recognize the time of your visitation." [Luk 19:43-44 LSB]

Jesus Drives Merchants from the Temple

[45] And Jesus entered the temple and began to drive out those who were selling, 

[46] saying to them, "It is written, 'AND MY HOUSE SHALL BE A HOUSE OF PRAYER,' but you have made it a ROBBERS' DEN." [Luk 19:45-46 LSB]

The Authority of Jesus Challenged

Parable of the Vine-Growers

[15] "So they threw him out of the vineyard and killed him. What, then, will the owner of the vineyard do to them? 

[16] "He will come and destroy these vine-growers and will give the vineyard to others." When they heard [this], they said, "May it never be!" [Luk 20:15-16 LSB]

[43] "Therefore I say to you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a nation, producing the fruit of it. [Mat 21:43 LSB]

The Sadducees Ask About the Resurrection

[37] "But that the dead are raised, even Moses showed in the [passage about the burning] bush, where he calls the Lord THE GOD OF ABRAHAM, AND THE GOD OF ISAAC, AND THE GOD OF JACOB. [38] "Now He is not the God of the dead but of the living; for all live to Him." [Luk 20:37-38 LSB]

The Widow’s Offering

[3] And He said, "Truly I say to you, this poor widow put in more than all [of them]. 

[4] "For they all put in their gifts out of their abundance; but she, out of what she lacked, put in all that she had for living." [Luk 21:3-4 LSB]

Signs of Christ’s Return

[12] "But before all these things, they will lay their hands on you and will persecute you, delivering you to the synagogues and prisons, bringing you before kings and governors for My name's sake. 

[13] "It will result in an opportunity for your testimony. 

[14] "So set in your hearts not to prepare beforehand to defend yourselves; 

[15] for I will give you a mouth and wisdom which none of your opponents will be able to resist or refute. [Luk 21:12-15 LSB]

When Christ Returns

The Parable of the Fig Tree

[29] Then He told them a parable: "Behold the fig tree and all the trees; 

[30] as soon as they put forth [leaves] and you see it for yourselves, know that summer is now near. 

[31] "So you also, when you see these things happening, know that the kingdom of God is near. 

[32] "Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all things take place. 

[33] "Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will never pass away. [Luk 21:29-33 LSB]
