Numbers 16-18

Korah Rises Up Against Moses

[3] Then they assembled together against Moses and Aaron, and said to them, "You have gone far enough, for all the congregation are holy, every one of them, and Yahweh is in their midst; so why do you exalt yourselves above the assembly of Yahweh?" [Num 16:3 LSB]

[8] Yet in the same way these men, also by dreaming, defile the flesh, and reject authority, and blaspheme glorious ones. ... [10] But these men blaspheme the things which they do not understand; and the things which they know by instinct, like unreasoning animals, by these things they are destroyed. [11] Woe to them! For they have gone the way of Cain, and for pay they have poured themselves into the error of Balaam, and perished in the rebellion of Korah. [Jde 1:8, 10-11 LSB]

Grumbling and Plague

[41] But on the next day all the congregation of the sons of Israel grumbled against Moses and Aaron, saying, "You are the ones who have caused the death of the people of Yahweh." ... [49] But those who died by the plague were 14,700, besides those who died on account of Korah. [Num 16:41, 49 LSB]

Aaron’s Rod Buds

[8] Now it happened on the next day Moses went into the tent of the testimony; and behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi had sprouted and put forth buds and produced flowers, and it bore ripe almonds. [Num 17:8 LSB]

Responsibilities of the Levites

[1] So Yahweh said to Aaron, "You and your sons and your father's household with you shall bear the guilt in connection with the sanctuary, and you and your sons with you shall bear the guilt in connection with your priesthood. [Num 18:1 LSB]

The Priests’ Portion

[19] "All the contributions of the holy [gifts], which the sons of Israel raise up to Yahweh, I have given to you and your sons and your daughters with you, as a perpetual statute. It is an everlasting covenant of salt before Yahweh to you and your seed with you." [Num 18:19 LSB]

[5] "Do you not know that Yahweh, the God of Israel, gave the rule over Israel forever to David and his sons by a covenant of salt? [2Ch 13:5 LSB]
