Romans 13-16 - Bearing the Weaknesses of Others

Be Subject to Government

Rom 13:1 LSB - [1] Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist have been appointed by God.

Rom 13:7-8 LSB - 

[7] Render to all what is due them: tax to whom tax [is due]; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honor to whom honor. 

[8] Owe nothing to anyone except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled [the] law.

Rom 13:14 LSB - [14] But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh in regard to [its] lusts.

Do Not Pass Judgment on One Another

Rom 14:1 LSB - [1] Now accept the one who is weak in faith, [but] not for [the purpose of] passing judgment on opinions.

Rom 14:4 LSB - [4] Who are you to judge the servant of another? To his own master he stands or falls; and he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand.

Rom 14:7-9 LSB - 

[7] For not one of us lives for himself, and not one dies for himself; 

[8] for if we live, we live for the Lord, or if we die, we die for the Lord; therefore whether we live or die, we are the Lord's. 

[9] For to this end Christ died and lived again, that He might be Lord both of the dead and of the living.

Rom 14:23 LSB - [23] But he who doubts is condemned if he eats, because [his eating is] not from faith; and whatever is not from faith is sin.

Bearing the Weaknesses of Others

Rom 15:1-2 LSB - 

[1] Now we who are strong ought to bear the weaknesses of those without strength and not [just] please ourselves. 

[2] Each of us is to please his neighbor for his good, to his building up.

Christ, the Hope of Jews and Gentiles

Rom 15:7 LSB - [7] Therefore, accept one another, just as Christ also accepted us to the glory of God.

Paul’s Ministry Plans

Rom 15:15-16 LSB - 

[15] But I have written very boldly to you on some points so as to remind you again, because of the grace that was given me by God 

[16] for me to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles, ministering as a priest the gospel of God, so that [my] offering of the Gentiles may become acceptable, having been sanctified by the Holy Spirit.

Rom 15:30-32 LSB - 

[30] Now I urge you, brothers, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to strive together with me in your prayers to God for me, 

[31] that I may be rescued from those who are disobedient in Judea, and [that] my service for Jerusalem may prove acceptable to the saints; 

[32] so that I may come to you in joy by the will of God and find rest in your company.

Final Instructions and Greetings

Rom 16:20 LSB - [20] And the God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you.

Rom 16:25-27 LSB - 

[25] Now to Him who is able to strengthen you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery which has been kept secret for long ages past, 

[26] but now is manifested, and by the Scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the eternal God, has been made known to all the Gentiles, [leading] to obedience of faith; 

[27] to the only wise God, through Jesus Christ, be the glory forever. Amen.
