The Ammonites Dishonor David’s Men

1Ch 19:2 LSB - [2] So David said, "I will show lovingkindness to Hanun the son of Nahash, because his father showed lovingkindness to me." So David sent messengers to comfort him concerning his father. And David's servants came into the land of the sons of Ammon to Hanun to comfort him.

1Ch 19:6 LSB - [6] Then the sons of Ammon saw that they had made themselves odious to David. So Hanun and the sons of Ammon sent 1,000 talents of silver to hire for themselves chariots and horsemen from Mesopotamia, from Aram-maacah, and from Zobah.

David Defeats Ammon and Aram

1Ch 19:19 LSB - [19] Then the servants of Hadadezer saw that they were defeated by Israel. So they made peace with David and served him. And the Arameans were not willing to save the sons of Ammon anymore.

1Ch 21:1 LSB - [1] Then Satan stood up against Israel and incited David to number Israel.

1Ch 21:7 LSB - [7] And this thing was displeasing in the sight of God, so He struck Israel.

1Ch 21:16 LSB - [16] Then David lifted up his eyes and saw the angel of Yahweh standing between earth and heaven, with his drawn sword in his hand stretched out over Jerusalem. Then David and the elders, covered with sackcloth, fell on their faces.

David Erects an Altar

1Ch 21:18-19 LSB - [18] Then the angel of Yahweh said to Gad to say to David, that David should go up and erect an altar to Yahweh on the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite. [19] So David went up at the word of Gad, which he spoke in the name of Yahweh.

1Ch 21:30 LSB - [30] But David could not go before it to inquire of God, for he was terrified by the sword of the angel of Yahweh.
