Isaiah 49-51

I Will Give You as a Light of the Nations

[1] Listen to Me, O coastlands, And pay attention, you peoples from afar. Yahweh called Me from the womb; From the body of My mother He made My name to be remembered. 

[2] He has set My mouth like a sharp sword; In the shadow of His hand He has concealed Me; And He has also set Me as a select arrow; He has hidden Me in His quiver. 

[3] He said to Me, "You are My Servant, Israel, In Whom I will show forth My beautiful glory."

[7] Thus says Yahweh, the Redeemer of Israel [and] its Holy One, To the despised One, To the One abhorred by the nation, To the Servant of rulers, "Kings will see and arise, Princes will also bow down, Because of Yahweh who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel who has chosen You." [Isa 49:7 LSB]

Promise to Zion

[14] But Zion said, "Yahweh has forsaken me, And the Lord has forgotten me." 

[15] "Can a woman forget her infant And have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, but I will not forget you.

[21] "Then you will say in your heart, 'Who has borne these for me? Indeed, I have been bereaved of my children And am barren, an exile and a wanderer. And who has reared these? Behold, I remained alone; From where did these come?'" 

[22] Thus says Lord Yahweh, "Behold, I will lift up My hand to the nations And make high My standard to the peoples; And they will bring your sons in [their] bosom, And your daughters will be lifted up on [their] shoulders.

Yahweh Helps His Servant

[6] I gave My back to those who strike [Me], And My cheeks to those who pluck out the beard; I did not hide My face from dishonor and spitting. [Isa 50:6 LSB]

[10] Who is among you that fears Yahweh, That listens to the voice of His Servant, That walks in darkness and has no light? Let him trust in the name of Yahweh and rely on his God. [Isa 50:10 LSB]

Yahweh’s Righteousness is Forever

[1] "Listen to Me, you who pursue righteousness, Who seek Yahweh: Look to the rock from which you were hewn And to the quarry from which you were dug.
[2] "Look to Abraham your father And to Sarah who brought you forth through labor pains; When [he] [was but] one I called him, Then I blessed him and multiplied him."

[6] "Lift up your eyes to the sky, Then look to the earth beneath; For the sky will vanish like smoke, And the earth will wear out like a garment, And its inhabitants will die in like manner; But My salvation will be forever, And My righteousness will not be dismayed. 

[7] "Listen to Me, you who know righteousness, A people in whose heart is My law; Do not fear the reproach of man, Nor be dismayed at their revilings.
