Acts 16-18

Timothy Joins Paul and Silas

[3] Paul wanted this man to go with him, and he took him and circumcised him because of the Jews who were in those parts, for they all knew that his father was a Greek. [Act 16:3 LSB]

[19] Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but [what matters is] the keeping of the commandments of God. [1Co 7:19 LSB]

[20] And to the Jews I became as a Jew, so that I might win Jews. To those who are under the Law, as under the Law though not being myself under the Law, so that I might win those who are under the Law. [1Co 9:20 LSB]

The Macedonian Vision

[6] And they passed through the Phrygian and Galatian region, having been forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia;
[7] and after they came to Mysia, they were trying to go into Bithynia, and the Spirit of Jesus did not permit them; [Act 16:6-7 LSB]

[9] And a vision appeared to Paul in the night: a man of Macedonia was standing and appealing to him, and saying, "Come over to Macedonia and help us."
[10] And when he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go into Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to proclaim the gospel to them. [Act 16:9-10 LSB]

Lydia’s Conversion in Philippi

[13] And on the Sabbath day we went outside the gate to a riverside, where we were supposing that there would be a place of prayer; and sitting down, we [began] speaking to the women who had assembled.
[14] And a woman named Lydia, from the city of Thyatira, a seller of purple fabrics, a worshiper of God, was listening, whose heart the Lord opened to pay attention to the things spoken by Paul.
[15] And when she and her household had been baptized, she urged us, saying, "If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house and stay." And she prevailed upon us. [Act 16:13-15 LSB]

Paul and Silas in Prison

[23] And when they had inflicted them with many wounds, they threw them into prison, commanding the jailer to guard them securely,
[24] who, having received such a command, threw them into the inner prison and fastened their feet in the stocks.
[25] But about midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns of praise to God, and the prisoners were listening to them.
[26] And suddenly there came a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the jailhouse were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone's chains were unfastened. [Act 16:23-26 LSB]

The Philippian Jailer Converted

[29] And he called for lights and rushed in, and trembling with fear he fell down before Paul and Silas, [30] and after he brought them out, he said, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?"
[31] And they said, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your house." [Act 16:29-31 LSB]

[32] And they spoke the word of the Lord to him together with all who were in his household.
[33] And he took them that [very] hour of the night and washed their wounds, and immediately he was baptized, he and all his [household].
[34] And he brought them into his house and set food before them, and rejoiced greatly with his whole household, because he had believed in God. [Act 16:32-34 LSB]

Paul and Silas in Thessalonica

[2] And according to Paul's custom, he went to them, and for three Sabbaths reasoned with them from the Scriptures,
[3] explaining and setting before them that the Christ had to suffer and rise again from the dead, and [saying], "This Jesus whom I am proclaiming to you is that Christ."
[4] And some of them were persuaded and joined Paul and Silas, along with a great multitude of the God-fearing Greeks and not a few of the leading women. [Act 17:2-4 LSB]

In Berea

[10] And the brothers immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea, and when they arrived, they went into the synagogue of the Jews.
[11] Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily [to see] whether these things were so.
[12] Therefore many of them believed, along with not a few prominent Greek women and men. [Act 17:10-12 LSB]

In Athens

[24] "The God who made the world and all things in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands;
[25] nor is He served by human hands, as though He needed anything, since He Himself gives to all [people] life and breath and all things; [Act 17:24-25 LSB]

[26] and He made from one [man] every nation of mankind to inhabit all the face of the earth, having determined [their] appointed times and the boundaries of their habitation,
[27] that they would seek God, if perhaps they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us;
[28] for in Him we live and move and exist, as even some of your own poets have said, 'For we also are His offspring.' [Act 17:26-28 LSB]

In Corinth

[4] And he was reasoning in the synagogue every Sabbath and trying to persuade both Jews and Greeks.
[5] But when Silas and Timothy came down from Macedonia, Paul [began] devoting himself completely to the word, solemnly bearing witness to the Jews that Jesus is the Christ.
[6] But when they resisted and blasphemed, he shook out his garments and said to them, "Your blood [be] on your own heads! I am clean. From now on I will go to the Gentiles." [Act 18:4-6 LSB]

[23] "And I will sow her for Myself in the land. I will also have compassion on her who had not obtained compassion, And I will say to those who were not My people, 'You are My people!' And they will say, '[You are] my God!'" [Hos 2:23 LSB]

[7] Then he left there and went to the house of a man named Titius Justus, a God-fearer, whose house was next to the synagogue.
[8] And Crispus, the leader of the synagogue, believed in the Lord with all his household, and many of the Corinthians when they heard were believing and being baptized. [Act 18:7-8 LSB]

Priscilla, Aquila, and Apollos

[24] Now a Jew named Apollos, an Alexandrian by birth, an eloquent man, arrived at Ephesus; and he was mighty in the Scriptures.
[25] This man had been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit, he was speaking and teaching accurately the things concerning Jesus, being acquainted only with the baptism of John; [26] and he began to speak out boldly in the synagogue. But when Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him aside and explained to him the way of God more accurately. [Act 18:24-26 LSB]
