The Gospel of God - Romans 1-3

The Gospel Exalted

[1] Paul, a slave of Christ Jesus, called [as] an apostle, having been set apart for the gospel of God, 

[2] which He promised beforehand through His prophets in the holy Scriptures, 

[3] concerning His Son, who was born of the seed of David according to the flesh, 

[4] who was designated as the Son of God in power, according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord, 

[5] through whom we received grace and apostleship for [the] obedience of faith among all the Gentiles for the sake of His name,

[14] I am under obligation both to Greeks and to barbarians, both to the wise and to the foolish. 

[15] In this way, for my part, I am eager to proclaim the gospel to you also who are in Rome.

[16] For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. 

[17] For in it [the] righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "BUT THE RIGHTEOUS WILL LIVE BY FAITH."

God’s Wrath on Unrighteousness

[21] For even though they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish heart was darkened.

God’s Righteous Judgment

[12] For all who have sinned without the Law will also perish without the Law, and all who have sinned under the Law will be judged by the Law. 

[13] For [it is] not the hearers of the Law [who] are just before God, but the doers of the Law will be justified.

The Jew Is Judged by the Law

[28] For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh. [29] But he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that which is of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter; and his praise is not from men, but from God.

There Is None Righteous

[9] What then? Are we better? Not at all; for we have already charged that both Jews and Greeks are all under sin; 

[10] as it is written, "THERE IS NONE RIGHTEOUS, NOT EVEN ONE;

The wicked fool says in his heart, "There is no God." 

They act corruptly, they commit abominable deeds; 

There is no one who does good. 

[2] Yahweh looks down from heaven upon the sons of men 

To see if there is anyone who has insight, 

Anyone who seeks after God. 

[3] They have all turned aside, altogether they have become worthless; 

There is no one who does good, not even one.

[19] Now we know that whatever the Law says, it speaks to those who are in the Law, so that every mouth may be shut and all the world may become accountable to God;
[20] because by the works of the Law NO FLESH WILL BE JUSTIFIED IN HIS SIGHT, for through the Law [comes] the knowledge of sin.

The Righteousness of God Through Faith

[20] because by the works of the Law NO FLESH WILL BE JUSTIFIED IN HIS SIGHT, for through the Law [comes] the knowledge of sin. 

[21] But now apart from the Law [the] righteousness of God has been manifested, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, 

[22] even [the] righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all those who believe; for there is no distinction; 

[23] for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 

[24] being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus; 

[25] whom God displayed publicly as a propitiation in His blood through faith, for a demonstration of His righteousness, because in the forbearance of God He passed over the sins previously committed; [26] for the demonstration of His righteousness at the present time, so that He would be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.
