Ask what I should give to you - 2 Chronicles 1-3

Solomon Goes Before Yahweh

[7] In that night God appeared to Solomon and said to him, "Ask what I should give to you." [2Ch 1:7 LSB]

[7] "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. [8] "For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. [Mat 7:7-8 LSB]

[14] And this is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. [15] And if we know that He hears us [in] whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him. [1Jo 5:14-15 LSB]

God Gives Wisdom to Solomon

[11] And God said to Solomon, "Because you had this in your heart, and did not ask for riches, wealth, or glory, or the life of those who hate you, nor have you even asked for long life, but you have asked for yourself wisdom and knowledge that you may do justice for My people over whom I have made you king, [12] wisdom and knowledge have been given to you. And I will give you riches and wealth and glory, such as none of the kings who were before you had nor those who will come after you." [2Ch 1:11-12 LSB]

Solomon’s Chariots and Horsemen

Yahweh’s House Will Be Great

[6] "But who is able to build a house for Him, for the heavens and the highest heavens cannot contain Him? So who am I, that I should build a house for Him, except to burn [incense] before Him? [2Ch 2:6 LSB]

Covenant with Huram King of Tyre

Solomon Builds Yahweh’s House

[1] Then Solomon began to build the house of Yahweh in Jerusalem on Mount Moriah, where [Yahweh] had appeared to his father David, at the place that David had prepared on the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite. [2Ch 3:1 LSB]

For all things come from You - 1 Chronicles 28-29

David Assembles His Commanders

[7] 'And I will establish his kingdom forever if he will be strong to do My commandments and My judgments, as is done now.' ...
[9] "As for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve Him with a whole heart and a delighted soul; for Yahweh searches all hearts, and understands every intent of the thoughts. If you seek Him, He will be found; but if you forsake Him, He will reject you forever. [1Ch 28:7, 9 LSB]

[4] Now it happened at the time that Solomon was old, his wives turned his heart away after other gods; and his heart was not wholly devoted to Yahweh his God, as the heart of David his father [had been]. [1Ki 11:4 LSB]

[19] "All [this]," [said David], "has been granted to me as insight in writing by the hand of Yahweh, all the details of this pattern." [1Ch 28:19 LSB]

Offerings for the Temple

[9] Then the people were glad because they had offered so willingly, for they made their freewill offering to Yahweh with a whole heart, and King David also was exceedingly glad. [1Ch 29:9 LSB]

David Blesses Yahweh

[10] So David blessed Yahweh in the sight of all the assembly; and David said, "Blessed are You, O Yahweh, the God of Israel our father, from everlasting to everlasting.
[11] "Yours, O Yahweh, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, indeed everything that is in the heavens and the earth; Yours is the kingdom, O Yahweh, and You exalt Yourself as head over all.
[12] "Both riches and honor [come] from You, and You rule over all, and in Your hand is power and might; and it lies in Your hand to make great and to strengthen everyone. [1Ch 29:10-12 LSB]

[14] "But who am I and who are my people that we should be able to offer as willingly as this? For all things come from You, and from Your hand we have given You. [1Ch 29:14 LSB]

Sacrifices to Yahweh

[22] So they ate and drank that day before Yahweh with great gladness. And they made Solomon the son of David king a second time, and they anointed [him] as ruler for Yahweh and Zadok as priest. [1Ch 29:22 LSB]

Prophesy with Lyres, Harps, and Cymbals - 1 Chronicles 25-27

Number and Services of Musicians

[1] Moreover, David and the commanders of the army separated for the service [some] of the sons of Asaph and of Heman and of Jeduthun, who [were] to prophesy with lyres, harps, and cymbals; and the number of those who performed their service was: [1Ch 25:1 LSB]

[15] "So now bring me a musician." And it came about, when the musician played, that the hand of Yahweh came upon him. [2Ki 3:15 LSB]

[24] But if all prophesy, and an unbeliever or an uninformed man enters, he is convicted by all, he is called to account by all; [25] the secrets of his heart are disclosed; and so he will fall on his face and worship God, declaring that SURELY GOD IS AMONG YOU. [26] What is [the outcome] then, brothers? When you assemble, each one has a psalm, has a teaching, has a revelation, has a tongue, has a translation. Let all things be done for edification. [1Co 14:24-26 LSB]

[6] All these were under the direction of their father to sing in the house of Yahweh, with cymbals, harps, and lyres, for the service of the house of God. Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman [were] under the direction of the king. [1Ch 25:6 LSB]

Responsibilities of the Musicians

[8] They cast lots for their responsibilities, [each] alongside [the other], the small as well as the great, the teacher [as well] as the pupil. [1Ch 25:8 LSB]

Divisions of the Gatekeepers

[1] For the divisions of the gatekeepers [there were] of the Korahites, Meshelemiah the son of Kore, of the sons of Asaph. [1Ch 26:1 LSB]

Administrators of Outside Work

Commanders of the Divisions

[1] Now [this is] the [total] count of the sons of Israel, the heads of fathers' [households], the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, and their officers who ministered to the king in each matter of the divisions which came in and went out month by month throughout all the months of the year, each division [numbering] 24,000: [1Ch 27:1 LSB]

Chief Officers of the Tribes

[23] But David did not take up a count of those twenty years of age and under, because Yahweh had said He would multiply Israel as the stars of heaven. [24] Joab the son of Zeruiah had begun to number [them], but did not finish; and because of this, wrath came upon Israel, and this count was not included in the [total] count of the chronicles of King David. Preparation to Build Yahweh’s House - 1 Chronicles 22-24

Preparation to Build Yahweh’s House

[5] And David said, "My son Solomon is young and inexperienced, and the house that is to be built for Yahweh shall be highly exalted, for a name and beauty throughout all lands. [Therefore] now I will make preparation for it." So David made ample preparations before his death. [1Ch 22:5 LSB]

Solomon to Build Yahweh’s House

[10] 'He shall build a house for My name, and he shall be a son to Me and I will be a father to him; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel forever.' [1Ch 22:10 LSB]

[7] There will be no end to the increase of [His] government or of peace, On the throne of David and over his kingdom, To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness From then on and forevermore. The zeal of Yahweh of hosts will accomplish this. [Isa 9:7 LSB]

Solomon Made King over Israel

The Work of the Levites

[4] Of these, 24,000 were to direct the work of the house of Yahweh; and 6,000 [were] officers and judges, [5] and 4,000 [were] gatekeepers, and 4,000 [were] praising Yahweh with the instruments which David made for giving praise. [1Ch 23:4-5 LSB]

The Sons of Gershon

The Sons of Kohath

[13] The sons of Amram were Aaron and Moses. And Aaron was separated in order to sanctify him as most holy, he and his sons forever, to offer [offerings] up in smoke before Yahweh, to minister to Him and to bless in His name forever. [14] But [as for] Moses the man of God, his sons were named among the tribe of Levi. [1Ch 23:13-14 LSB]

The Sons of Merari

The Service of the Levites

[25] For David said, "Yahweh, the God of Israel, has given rest to His people, and He dwells in Jerusalem forever. [1Ch 23:25 LSB]

[1] Now it happened when the king inhabited his house, and Yahweh had given him rest on every side from all his enemies, [2Sa 7:1 LSB]

Divisions of Levites

[5] Thus they were divided by lot, the one as the other; for they were leaders for the sanctuary and leaders for God, both from the sons of Eleazar and the sons of Ithamar. [1Ch 24:5 LSB]

David Sins by Numbering Israel - 1 Chronicles 19-21

The Ammonites Dishonor David’s Men

David Defeats Ammon and Aram

War with Philistine Giants

[4] Now it happened afterwards, that war broke out at Gezer with the Philistines; then Sibbecai the Hushathite struck down Sippai, [one] among those born of the giants, and they were subdued.
[5] And there was war with the Philistines again, and Elhanan the son of Jair struck down Lahmi the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the shaft of whose spear was like a weaver's beam.
[1Ch 20:4-5 LSB]

[8] These were born to the giants in Gath, and they fell by the hand of David and by the hand of his servants.
[1Ch 20:8 LSB]

David Sins by Numbering Israel

[1] Then Satan stood up against Israel and incited David to number Israel.
[1Ch 21:1 LSB]

[17] And David said to God, "Is it not I who commanded to number the people? Indeed, I am the one who has sinned and done a great evil; but these sheep, what have they done? O Yahweh my God, please let Your hand be against me and my father's household, but not against Your people that they should be plagued."
[1Ch 21:17 LSB]

David Erects an Altar

[29] Now the tabernacle of Yahweh, which Moses had made in the wilderness, and the altar of burnt offering [were] in the high place at Gibeon at that time.
[30] But David could not go before it to inquire of God, for he was terrified by the sword of the angel of Yahweh.
[1Ch 21:29-30 LSB]

Oh give thanks to Yahweh - 1 Chronicles 16-18

A Tent for the Ark

[1] And they brought in the ark of God and placed it inside the tent which David had pitched for it, and they brought burnt offerings and peace offerings near before God.
[1Ch 16:1 LSB]

Song of Thanksgiving

[8] Oh give thanks to Yahweh, call upon His name; Make known His acts among the peoples.
[9] Sing to Him, sing praises to Him; Muse on all His wondrous deeds.
[10] Boast in His holy name; Let the heart of those who seek Yahweh be glad.
[11] Inquire of Yahweh and His strength; Seek His face continually.
[12] Remember His wondrous deeds which He has done, His miraculous signs and the judgments uttered by His mouth,
[1Ch 16:8-12 LSB]

Ministering Before the Ark

[37] So he left behind Asaph and his relatives there before the ark of the covenant of Yahweh to minister before the ark continually, as every day's work required;
[1Ch 16:37 LSB]

[39] Now [he left behind] Zadok the priest and his relatives the priests before the tabernacle of Yahweh in the high place, which [was] at Gibeon,
[1Ch 16:39 LSB]

The Ark of God Inhabits a Tent

[1] Now it happened when David inhabited his house, that David said to Nathan the prophet, "Behold, I inhabit a house of cedar, but the ark of the covenant of Yahweh is under [tent] curtains."
[1Ch 17:1 LSB]

[2] So Nathan said to David, "Do all that is in your heart, for God is with you."
[1Ch 17:2 LSB]

David’s House Will Be Established Forever

[13] "I will be a father to him and he will be a son to Me; and I will not remove My lovingkindness from him, as I removed [it] from him who was before you.
[14] "But I will cause him to stand in My house and in My kingdom forever, and his throne shall be established forever."'"
[1Ch 17:13-14 LSB]

[5] For to which of the angels did He ever say, "YOU ARE MY SON, TODAY I HAVE BEGOTTEN YOU"? And again, "I WILL BE A FATHER TO HIM AND HE SHALL BE A SON TO ME"?
[Heb 1:5 LSB]

[5] Now MOSES WAS FAITHFUL IN ALL HIS HOUSE AS A SERVANT, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken later,
[6] but Christ [was faithful] as a Son over His house--whose house we are, if we hold fast our confidence and the boast of our hope.
[Heb 3:5-6 LSB]

David Magnifies Yahweh’s Name

[16] Then David the king went in and sat before Yahweh and said, "Who am I, O Yahweh God, and what is my house that You have brought me this far?
[1Ch 17:16 LSB]

David Strikes Down Nations

[1] Now it happened afterwards, that David struck the Philistines and subdued them and took Gath and its towns from the hand of the Philistines.
[2] He also struck Moab, and the Moabites became servants to David, bringing tribute.
[1Ch 18:1-2 LSB]

Give Thanks to Yahweh - 1 Chronicles 13-15

Uzza Dies from Touching the Ark

[9] Then they came to the threshing floor of Chidon. And Uzza reached out with his hand to take hold of the ark, because the oxen nearly upset [it].
[10] And the anger of Yahweh burned against Uzza, and He struck him down because he reached out with his hand to the ark; and he died there before God.
[1Ch 13:9-10 LSB]

[12] So David was afraid of God that day, saying, "How can I bring the ark of God [back] to me?"
[1Ch 13:12 LSB]

[120] My flesh quakes for dread of You, And I am afraid of Your judgments.
[Psa 119:120 LSB]

David Takes More Wives

David Strikes Down the Philistines

[10] Then David asked of God, saying, "Shall I go up against the Philistines? And will You give them into my hand?" And Yahweh said to him, "Go up, for I will give them into your hand."
[1Ch 14:10 LSB]

[14] So David again asked of God, and God said to him, "You shall not go [directly] up after them; circle around from behind them and come at them in front of the balsam trees.
[1Ch 14:14 LSB]

The Ark Is Brought to Jerusalem

[29] Now it happened [as] the ark of the covenant of Yahweh came to the city of David, that Michal the daughter of Saul looked out of the window and saw King David leaping and celebrating; and she despised him in her heart.

[3] Let them praise His name with dancing; With tambourine and lyre let them sing praises to Him.

The Spirit Clothed Amasai - 1 Chronicles 10-12

The Death of Saul and His Sons

Jabesh-gilead Buries Saul

[13] Thus Saul died for his unfaithfulness, which he committed against Yahweh, because of the word of Yahweh which he did not keep; and also because he asked counsel of a medium, making inquiry [of it], [14] and did not inquire of Yahweh. Therefore He put him to death and turned the kingdom to David the son of Jesse.

[1Ch 12:18 LSB]

[34] But the Spirit of Yahweh clothed Gideon; and he blew a trumpet, and the Abiezrites were called together to follow him. [Jdg 6:34 LSB]

Sons of Judah - 1 Chronicles 4-6

Sons of Judah

[9] Now Jabez was more honorable than his brothers, and his mother named him Jabez saying, "Because I bore [him] with pain."
[10] Then Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, "Oh that You would bless me indeed and enlarge my border, and that Your hand might be with me, and that You would keep [me] from harm that [it] may not pain me!" And God brought about what he asked.
[1Ch 4:9-10 LSB]

[27] Now Shimei had sixteen sons and six daughters; but his brothers did not have many sons, nor did all their family multiply like the sons of Judah.
[1Ch 4:27 LSB]

Sons of Reuben

[1] Now the sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel (for he was the firstborn, but because he profaned his father's bed, his birthright was given to the sons of Joseph the son of Israel; so that he is not recorded in the genealogy according to the birthright.

[26] So the God of Israel stirred up the spirit of Pul, king of Assyria, even the spirit of Tilgath-pilneser, king of Assyria, and he took them away into exile, namely the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh, and brought them to Halah, Habor, Hara, and to the river of Gozan, to this day.

Fulfilling the Law Through Love - Romans 13-16

Be Subject to Government

Fulfilling the Law Through Love

[9] For this, "YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT ADULTERY, YOU SHALL NOT MURDER, YOU SHALL NOT STEAL, YOU SHALL NOT COVET," and if there is any other commandment, it is summed up in this word, "YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF."
[10] Love does not work evil against a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of [the] Law.
[Rom 13:9-10 LSB]

[11] And [do] this, knowing the time, that it is already the hour for you to awaken from sleep; for now salvation is nearer to us than when we believed.
[12] The night is almost gone, and the day is at hand. Therefore let us lay aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.
[13] Let us walk properly as in the day, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and sensuality, not in strife and jealousy.
[14] But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh in regard to [its] lusts.
[Rom 13:11-14 LSB]

Do Not Pass Judgment on One Another

[19] So then let us pursue the things which make for peace and the building up of one another.
[Rom 14:19 LSB]

Bearing the Weaknesses of Others

[1] Now we who are strong ought to bear the weaknesses of those without strength and not [just] please ourselves.
[Rom 15:1 LSB]

Christ, the Hope of Jews and Gentiles

[7] Therefore, accept one another, just as Christ also accepted us to the glory of God.
[Rom 15:7 LSB]

Paul’s Ministry Plans

Final Instructions and Greetings

[25] Now to Him who is able to strengthen you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery which has been kept secret for long ages past,
[26] but now is manifested, and by the Scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the eternal God, has been made known to all the Gentiles, [leading] to obedience of faith;
[27] to the only wise God, through Jesus Christ, be the glory forever. Amen.
[Rom 16:25-27 LSB]

A Living and Holy Sacrifice - Romans 10-12

God’s Chosen People, Israel

[3] For not knowing about the righteousness of God and seeking to establish their own, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God.
[4] For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.
[Rom 10:3-4 LSB]

Faith Comes by Hearing

[8] But what does it say? "THE WORD IS NEAR YOU, IN YOUR MOUTH AND IN YOUR HEART"--that is, the word of faith which we are preaching,

[9] that if you confess with your mouth Jesus [as] Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;
[10] for with the heart a person believes, leading to righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, leading to salvation.
[Rom 10:8-10 LSB]

[14] How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher?
[15] And how will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, "HOW BEAUTIFUL ARE THE FEET OF THOSE WHO PROCLAIM GOOD NEWS OF GOOD THINGS!"
[Rom 10:14-15 LSB]

[17] So faith [comes] from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.
[Rom 10:17 LSB]

God Has Not Rejected Israel

[4] But what does the divine response say to him? "I HAVE LEFT for Myself SEVEN THOUSAND MEN WHO HAVE NOT BOWED THE KNEE TO BAAL."
[5] In this way then, at the present time, a remnant according to [God's] gracious choice has also come to be.
[Rom 11:4-5 LSB]

[7] What then? What Israel is seeking, it has not obtained, but the chosen obtained it, and the rest were hardened;
[Rom 11:7 LSB]

All Israel Will Be Saved

[25] For I do not want you, brothers, to be uninformed of this mystery--so that you will not be wise in your own estimation--that a partial hardening has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in;
[26] and so all Israel will be saved; just as it is written, "THE DELIVERER WILL COME FROM ZION, HE WILL REMOVE UNGODLINESS FROM JACOB."
[27] "AND THIS IS MY COVENANT WITH THEM, WHEN I TAKE AWAY THEIR SINS."
[Rom 11:25-27 LSB]

A Living and Holy Sacrifice

[9] [Let] love [be] without hypocrisy--by abhorring what is evil, clinging to what is good,
[10] [being] devoted to one another in brotherly love, giving preference to one another in honor,
[11] not lagging behind in diligence, being fervent in spirit, serving the Lord,
[12] rejoicing in hope, persevering in affliction, being devoted to prayer,
[13] contributing to the needs of the saints, pursuing hospitality.
[Rom 12:9-13 LSB]

Abba! Father! - Romans 7-9

Released from the Law

[4] So, my brothers, you also were made to die to the Law through the body of Christ, so that you might be joined to another, to Him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God. [Rom 7:4 LSB]

[6] But now we have been released from the Law, having died to that by which we were constrained, so that we serve in newness of the Spirit and not in oldness of the letter.
[Rom 7:6 LSB]

The Conflict of Two Natures

[22] For I joyfully concur with the law of God in the inner man,
[23] but I see a different law in my members, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a captive to the law of sin which is in my members.
[Rom 7:22-23 LSB]

[25] Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, on the one hand I myself with my mind am serving the law of God, but on the other, with my flesh the law of sin.
[Rom 7:25 LSB]

The Spirit of God Dwells in You

[1] Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
[2] For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death.
[3] For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God [did]: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and [as an offering] for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh,
[4] so that the righteous requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
[Rom 8:1-4 LSB]

[10] But if Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, yet the spirit is alive because of righteousness.
[11] But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.
[Rom 8:10-11 LSB]

[14] For as many as are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.
[15] For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received [the] Spirit of adoption as sons by whom we cry out, "Abba! Father!"
[16] The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God,
[17] and if children, also heirs, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with [Him] so that we may also be glorified with [Him].
[Rom 8:14-17 LSB]

Present Suffering and Future Glory

[26] And in the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness, for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for [us] with groanings too deep for words;
[27] and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to [the will of] God.
[Rom 8:26-27 LSB]

[28] And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to [His] purpose.
[29] Because those whom He foreknew, He also predestined [to become] conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brothers;
[30] and those whom He predestined, He also called; and those whom He called, He also justified; and those whom He justified, He also glorified. [Rom 8:28-30 LSB]

God Is for Us

[37] But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us.
[38] For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers,
[39] nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
[Rom 8:37-39 LSB]

God’s Chosen People, Israel

[6] But [it is] not as though the word of God has failed. For they are not all Israel who are [descended] from Israel;
[7] nor are they all children because they are Abraham's seed, but: "THROUGH ISAAC YOUR SEED WILL BE NAMED."
[8] That is, the children of the flesh are not the children of God, but the children of the promise are considered as seed.
[Rom 9:6-8 LSB]

[15] For He says to Moses, "I WILL HAVE MERCY ON WHOM I HAVE MERCY, AND I WILL HAVE COMPASSION ON WHOM I HAVE COMPASSION."
[16] So then it [does] not [depend] on the one who wills or the one who runs, but on God who has mercy.
[Rom 9:15-16 LSB]

[18] So then He has mercy on whom He desires, and He hardens whom He desires.
[Rom 9:18 LSB]

[27] And Isaiah cries out concerning Israel, "THOUGH THE NUMBER OF THE SONS OF ISRAEL BE LIKE THE SAND OF THE SEA, IT IS THE REMNANT THAT WILL BE SAVED;
[Rom 9:27 LSB]

[30] What shall we say then? That Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, laid hold of righteousness, even the righteousness which is by faith;
[31] but Israel, pursuing a law of righteousness, did not attain [that] law.
[Rom 9:30-31 LSB]

Dead to Sin, Alive to God - Romans 4-6

Abraham and David’s Faith Counted as Righteousness

[3] For what does the Scripture say? "ABRAHAM BELIEVED GOD, AND IT WAS COUNTED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS."
[Rom 4:3 LSB]

[5] But to the one who does not work, but believes upon Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted as righteousness,
[6] just as David also speaks of the blessing on the man to whom God counts righteousness apart from works:
[7] "BLESSED ARE THOSE WHOSE LAWLESS DEEDS HAVE BEEN FORGIVEN, AND WHOSE SINS HAVE BEEN COVERED.
[8] "BLESSED IS THE MAN WHOSE SIN THE LORD WILL NOT TAKE INTO ACCOUNT."
[Rom 4:5-8 LSB]

[23] Now not for his sake only was it written THAT IT WAS COUNTED TO HIM,
[24] but for our sake also, to whom it will be counted, as those who believe upon Him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead,
[25] [He] who was delivered over on account of our transgressions, and was raised on account of our justification.
[Rom 4:23-25 LSB]

Results of Justification by Faith

[1] Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
[2] through whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and we boast in hope of the glory of God.
[Rom 5:1-2 LSB]

[8] But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. [9] Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath [of God] through Him.
[Rom 5:8-9 LSB]

The Gift of Righteousness in Christ

[15] But the gracious gift is not like the transgression. For if by the transgression of the one the many died, much more did the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abound to the many. ...
[18] So then as through one transgression there resulted condemnation to all men, even so through one act of righteousness there resulted justification of life to all men. [Rom 5:15, 18 LSB]

Dead to Sin, Alive to God

[3] Or do you not know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? [4] Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.
[Rom 6:3-4 LSB]

[8] Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him,
[9] knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, is never to die again; death no longer is master over Him.
[Rom 6:8-9 LSB]

Slaves of Righteousness

[19] I am speaking in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. For just as you presented your members as slaves to impurity and to lawlessness, leading to [further] lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves to righteousness, leading to sanctification.
[Rom 6:19 LSB]

[22] But now having been freed from sin and enslaved to God, you have your benefit, leading to sanctification, and the end, eternal life.
[23] For the wages of sin is death, but the gracious gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. [Rom 6:22-23 LSB]

The Gospel of God - Romans 1-3

The Gospel Exalted

[1] Paul, a slave of Christ Jesus, called [as] an apostle, having been set apart for the gospel of God
[2] which He promised beforehand through His prophets in the holy Scriptures,
[3] concerning His Son, who was born of the seed of David according to the flesh,
[4] who was designated as the Son of God in power, according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord
[5] through whom we received grace and apostleship for [the] obedience of faith among all the Gentiles for the sake of His name,
[Rom 1:1-5 LSB]

[14] I am under obligation both to Greeks and to barbarians, both to the wise and to the foolish.
[15] In this way, for my part, I am eager to proclaim the gospel to you also who are in Rome.
[Rom 1:14-15 LSB]

[16] For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
[17] For in it [the] righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "BUT THE RIGHTEOUS WILL LIVE BY FAITH."
[Rom 1:16-17 LSB]

[4] "Behold, as for the proud one, His soul is not right within him; But the righteous will live by his faith.
[Hab 2:4 LSB]

[11] Now that no one is justified by the Law before God is evident, for "THE RIGHTEOUS SHALL LIVE BY FAITH."
[Gal 3:11 LSB]

God’s Wrath on Unrighteousness

[21] For even though they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish heart was darkened.
[Rom 1:21 LSB]

God’s Righteous Judgment

[12] For all who have sinned without the Law will also perish without the Law, and all who have sinned under the Law will be judged by the Law.
[13] For [it is] not the hearers of the Law [who] are just before God, but the doers of the Law will be justified.
[Rom 2:12-13 LSB]

The Jew Is Judged by the Law

[28] For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh. [29] But he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that which is of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter; and his praise is not from men, but from God.
[Rom 2:28-29 LSB]

[1] A Psalm of Asaph.
Surely God is good to Israel,
To those who are pure in heart!
[Psa 73:1 LSB]

There Is None Righteous

[9] What then? Are we better? Not at all; for we have already charged that both Jews and Greeks are all under sin;
[10] as it is written, "THERE IS NONE RIGHTEOUS, NOT EVEN ONE;
[Rom 3:9-10 LSB]

[1] For the choir director. Of David.
The wicked fool says in his heart, "There is no God."
They act corruptly, they commit abominable deeds;
There is no one who does good.
[2] Yahweh looks down from heaven upon the sons of men
To see if there is anyone who has insight,
Anyone who seeks after God.
[3] They have all turned aside, altogether they have become worthless;
There is no one who does good, not even one.
[Psa 14:1-3 LSB]

[19] Now we know that whatever the Law says, it speaks to those who are in the Law, so that every mouth may be shut and all the world may become accountable to God;
[20] because by the works of the Law NO FLESH WILL BE JUSTIFIED IN HIS SIGHT, for through the Law [comes] the knowledge of sin.
[Rom 3:19-20 LSB]

The Righteousness of God Through Faith

[20] because by the works of the Law NO FLESH WILL BE JUSTIFIED IN HIS SIGHT, for through the Law [comes] the knowledge of sin.
[21] But now apart from the Law [the] righteousness of God has been manifested, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets,
[22] even [the] righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all those who believe; for there is no distinction;
[23] for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
[24] being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus;
[25] whom God displayed publicly as a propitiation in His blood through faith, for a demonstration of His righteousness, because in the forbearance of God He passed over the sins previously committed; [26] for the demonstration of His righteousness at the present time, so that He would be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.
[Rom 3:20-26 LSB]

The Glory of Yahweh Endures Forever - Psalm 104-106

The Glory of Yahweh Endures Forever

[4] He makes His angels the winds, His ministers flaming fire.
[Psa 104:4 LSB]

[7] And of the angels He says, "WHO MAKES HIS ANGELS WINDS, AND HIS MINISTERS FLAMING FIRE." ...
[14] Are they not all ministering spirits, sent to render service for the sake of those who will inherit salvation?
[Heb 1:7, 14 LSB]

[33] I will sing to Yahweh throughout my life;
I will sing praise to my God while I have [my] being.
[34] Let my musing be pleasing to Him;
As for me, I shall be glad in Yahweh.
[Psa 104:33-34 LSB]

Remember His Wondrous Deeds

[1] Oh give thanks to Yahweh, call upon His name;
Make known His acts among the peoples.
[Psa 105:1 LSB]

[4] And in that day you will say, "Give thanks to Yahweh, call on His name.
Make known His deeds among the peoples;
Make [them] remember that His name is exalted."
[Isa 12:4 LSB]

Remember Me, O Yahweh

[4] Remember me, O Yahweh, in [Your] favor toward Your people;
Visit me with Your salvation,
[5] That I may see the goodness of Your chosen ones,
That I may rejoice in the gladness of Your nation,
That I may boast with Your inheritance.
[6] We have sinned with our fathers,
We have committed iniquity, we have acted wickedly.
[Psa 106:4-6 LSB]

Bless Yahweh, O My Soul - Psalm 101-103

Consider the Way of the Blameless

[2] I will consider the way of the blameless.
When will You come to me?
I will walk within my house in the integrity of my heart.
[Psa 101:2 LSB]

[17] As for me, I am afflicted and needy,
May the Lord think of me.
You are my help and the One who rescues me;
Do not delay,
O my God. [Psa 40:17 LSB]

Do Not Hide Your Face from Me

[1] A Prayer of the afflicted when he is faint and pours out his complaint before Yahweh.
O Yahweh, hear my prayer!
And let my cry for help come to You.
[2] Do not hide Your face from me in the day of my distress;
Incline Your ear to me;
In the day when I call answer me quickly.
[Psa 102:1-2 LSB]

Bless Yahweh, O My Soul

[1] Of David.
Bless Yahweh, O my soul,
And all that is within me, [bless] His holy name.
[2] Bless Yahweh, O my soul,
And forget none of His benefits;
[3] Who pardons all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases;
[4] Who redeems your life from the pit,
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and compassion;
[5] Who satisfies your years with good things,
[So that] your youth is renewed like the eagle.
[Psa 103:1-5 LSB]

[11] For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
So great is His lovingkindness toward those who fear Him.
[12] As far as the east is from the west,
So far has He removed our transgressions from us.
[Psa 103:11-12 LSB]

Kneel Before Yahweh Our Maker - Psalm 95 - 100

Let Us Kneel Before Yahweh Our Maker

[1] Oh come, let us sing for joy to Yahweh,
Let us make a loud shout to the rock of our salvation.
[2] Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving,
Let us make a loud shout to Him with songs of praise.
[Psa 95:1-2 LSB]

[6] Come, let us worship and bow down,
Let us kneel before Yahweh our Maker.
[7] For He is our God,
And we are the people of His pasture and the sheep of His hand.
Today, if you hear His voice,
[8] Do not harden your hearts, as at Meribah,
As in the day of Massah in the wilderness,
[9] "When your fathers tried Me,
They tested Me, though they had seen My work.
[Psa 95:6-9 LSB]

Ascribe to Yahweh Glory and Strength

[1] Sing to Yahweh a new song; Sing to Yahweh, all the earth.
[2] Sing to Yahweh, bless His name;
Proclaim good news of His salvation from day to day.
[Psa 96:1-2 LSB]

The Yahweh Reigns

[1] Yahweh reigns, let the earth rejoice;
Let the many coastlands be glad.
[2] Clouds and thick darkness are all around Him;
Righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne.
[3] Fire goes before Him
And burns up His adversaries all around.
[4] His lightnings light up the world;
The earth sees and trembles.
[5] The mountains melt like wax at the presence of Yahweh,
At the presence of the Lord of all the earth.
[Psa 97:1-5 LSB]

Sing to Yahweh a New Song

[3] He has remembered His lovingkindness and His faithfulness to the house of Israel;
All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.
[4] Make a loud shout to Yahweh, all the earth;
Break forth and sing for joy and sing praises.
[Psa 98:3-4 LSB]

Holy Is Yahweh Our God

[6] Moses and Aaron were among His priests,
And Samuel was among those who called on His name;
They would call upon Yahweh and He would answer them. [Psa 99:6 LSB]

Serve Yahweh with Gladness

[1] A Psalm of Thanksgiving.
Make a loud shout to Yahweh, all the earth.
[2] Serve Yahweh with gladness;
Come before Him with joyful songs.
[3] Know that Yahweh, He is God;
It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves;
[We are] His people and the sheep of His pasture.
[4] Enter His gates with thanksgiving [And] His courts with praise.
Give thanks to Him, bless His name.
[5] For Yahweh is good;
His lovingkindness endures forever
And His faithfulness, generation unto generation.
[Psa 100:1-5 LSB]

If Yahweh had not been my help - Psalm 90-94

From Everlasting to Everlasting, You Are God

[10] As for the days of our life, they contain seventy years,
Or if due to might, eighty years,
Yet their pride is [but] labor and wickedness;
For soon it is gone and we fly away.
[Psa 90:10 LSB]

[9] So Jacob said to Pharaoh, "The days of the years of my sojourning are 130; few and evil have been the days of the years of my life, and they have not attained to the days of the years that my fathers lived during the days of their sojourning."
[Gen 47:9 LSB]

[35] "I am now eighty years old. Can I know between good and bad? Or can your servant taste what I eat or what I drink? Or can I hear anymore the voice of singing men and women? Why then should your servant be an added burden to my lord the king?
[2Sa 19:35 LSB]

[14] O satisfy us in the morning with Your lovingkindness, That we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.
[Psa 90:14 LSB]

In the Shadow of the Almighty

[1] He who abides in the shelter of the Most High Will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
[2] I will say to Yahweh, "My refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I trust!" ...
[9] For you have made Yahweh--my refuge, The Most High--your dwelling place.
[10] No evil will befall you, And no plague will come near your tent.
[Psa 91:1-2, 9-10 LSB]

How Great Are Your Works, O Yahweh

[1] A Psalm. A Song for the Sabbath day.
It is good to give thanks to Yahweh And to sing praises to Your name, O Most High;
[2] To declare Your lovingkindness in the morning And Your faithfulness by night,
[Psa 92:1-2 LSB]

[4] For You, O Yahweh, have made me glad by what You have done, I will sing for joy at the works of Your hands.
[5] How great are Your works, O Yahweh! Your thoughts are very deep.
[Psa 92:4-5 LSB]

Yahweh Reigns Forevermore

[1] Yahweh reigns, He is clothed with majesty;
Yahweh has clothed and girded Himself with strength;
Indeed, the world is established, it will not be shaken.
[Psa 93:1 LSB]

God of Vengeance, Shine Forth

[17] If Yahweh had not been my help,
My soul would soon have dwelt in [the abode of] silence.
[18] If I should say, "My foot has stumbled,"
Your lovingkindness, O Yahweh, will hold me up.
[19] When my anxious thoughts multiply within me,
Your consolations delight my soul.
[Psa 94:17-19 LSB]

The end of the matter - Ecclesiastes 10-12

The Folly of a Simpleminded Fool

[20] Furthermore, in your bedchamber do not curse a king, and in your sleeping rooms do not curse a rich man, for a bird of the sky will bring the sound and the winged creature will tell the matter.
[Ecc 10:20 LSB]

[3] "Accordingly, whatever you have said in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in the inner rooms will be proclaimed upon the housetops.
[Luk 12:3 LSB]

Cast Your Bread on the Waters

[5] Just as you do not know the path of the wind and how bones [are formed] in the womb of the pregnant woman, so you do not know the work of God who works all things. [Ecc 11:5 LSB]

[8] "The wind blows where it wishes and you hear its sound, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going; so is everyone who has been born of the Spirit." [Jhn 3:8 LSB]

[9] Be glad, young man, during your childhood, and let your heart be merry during the days of young manhood. And walk in the ways of your heart and in the sights of your eyes. Yet know that God will bring you to judgment for all these things.
[Ecc 11:9 LSB]

Remember Your Creator in Your Youth

[1] Remember also your Creator in the days of your youth, before the evil days happen and the years draw near in which you will say, "I have no delight in them";
[Ecc 12:1 LSB]

[6] [Remember Him] before the silver cord is snapped and the golden bowl is crushed, the pitcher by the spring is broken and the wheel at the cistern is crushed;
[7] then the dust will return to the earth as it was, and the spirit will return to God who gave it.
[Ecc 12:6-7 LSB]

[21] Who knows that the breath of man ascends upward and the breath of the beast descends downward to the earth?
[Ecc 3:21 LSB]

Fear God and Keep His Commandments

[13] The end of the matter, all [that] has been heard: fear God and keep His commandments, because this is [the end of the matter for] all mankind.
[14] For God will bring every work to judgment, everything which is hidden, whether it is good or evil. [Ecc 12:13-14 LSB]

Whatever Your Hand Finds to Do - Ecclesiastes 7-9

Wisdom and Folly Contrasted

[16] Do not be excessively righteous, and do not be overly wise. Why should you make yourself desolate? [Ecc 7:16 LSB]

[3] "But when you give to the poor, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, [Mat 6:3 LSB]

[20] Indeed, there is not a righteous man on earth who [continually] does good and who never sins.
[Ecc 7:20 LSB]

Keep the Command of the King

[15] So I laud gladness, for there is nothing good for a man under the sun except to eat and to drink and to be merry, and this will join with him in his labor [throughout] the days of his life which God has given him under the sun.
[Ecc 8:15 LSB]

Mankind Is in the Hand of God

[4] For whoever is joined with all the living, there is confidence; surely a live dog is better than a dead lion.
[Ecc 9:4 LSB]

[9] See life with the woman whom you love all the days of your vain life, which He has given to you under the sun--all the days of your vanity; for this is your portion in life and in your labor in which you have labored under the sun.
[Ecc 9:9 LSB]

Whatever Your Hand Finds to Do

[10] Whatever your hand finds to do, do [it] with [all] your might; for there is no working or explaining or knowledge or wisdom in Sheol where you are going.
[Ecc 9:10 LSB]

The Vanity of Life - Ecclesiastes 4-6

The Tears of the Oppressed

[10] For if either of them falls, the one will lift up his companion. But woe to the one who falls when there is not a second one to lift him up.
[11] Furthermore, if two lie down together they keep warm, but how can one be warm [alone]?
[Ecc 4:10-11 LSB]

Fear God

[2] Do not be hasty with your mouth or impulsive in your heart to bring up a matter in the presence of God. For God is in heaven but you are on the earth; therefore let your words be few.
[Ecc 5:2 LSB]

The Vanity of Riches

[15] As he had come naked from his mother's womb, so will he return as he came. He will carry nothing from the fruit of his labor that he can bring in his hand.
[Ecc 5:15 LSB]

[18] Here is what I have seen to be good, which is beautiful: to eat, to drink, and to see good in all one's labor in which he labors under the sun [during] the few days of his life which God has given him; for this is his portion.
[Ecc 5:18 LSB]

The Vanity of Life

[12] For who knows what is good for a man during [his] lifetime, [during] the few days of his vain life? He will make do with them like a shadow. For who can tell a man what will be after him under the sun? [Ecc 6:12 LSB]

All Is Vanity - Ecclesiastes 1-3

All Is Vanity

[2] "Vanity of vanities," says the Preacher, "Vanity of vanities! All is vanity."
[Ecc 1:2 LSB]

The Vanity of Wisdom

[17] And I gave my heart to know wisdom and to know madness and simpleminded folly; I came to know that this also is striving after wind.
[18] Because in much wisdom there is much vexation, and [whoever] increases knowledge increases pain. [Ecc 1:17-18 LSB]

The Vanity of Pleasure and Possessions

[11] Thus I turned to all my works which my hands had done and the labor which I had labored to do, and behold, all was vanity and striving after wind, and there was no advantage under the sun. [
Ecc 2:11 LSB]

Wisdom Excels Folly

[15] Then I said in my heart, "As is the fate of the fool, so will my fate be also. Why then have I been extremely wise?" So I said in my heart, "This too is vanity."
[16] For there is no remembrance of the wise man along with the fool forever, inasmuch as [in] the coming days all will be forgotten. And how the wise man dies with the fool!
[Ecc 2:15-16 LSB]

The Vanity of Labor

[24] There is nothing better for a man [than] to eat and drink and have his soul see good in his labor. This also I have seen that it is from the hand of God.
[Ecc 2:24 LSB]

A Time for Everything

[1] There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every matter under heaven--
[2] A time to give birth and a time to die; A time to plant and a time to uproot what is planted.
[Ecc 3:1-2 LSB]

God Set Eternity in the Heart of Man

[11] He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in their heart, yet so that man will not find out the work which God has done from the beginning even to the end.
[Ecc 3:11 LSB]

[12] I know that there is nothing better for them than to be glad and to do good in one's lifetime;
[13] moreover, that every man who eats and drinks and sees good in all his labor--it is the gift of God. [Ecc 3:12-13 LSB]

[19] For the fate of the sons of men and the fate of beasts is the same fate for [each of] them. As one dies so dies the other, and they all have the same breath. So there is no advantage for man over beast, for all is vanity.
[Ecc 3:19 LSB]

Incline Your Ear to My Cry - Psalm 88-89

Incline Your Ear to My Cry

[1] A Song. A Psalm of the sons of Korah. For the choir director. According to Mahalath Leannoth. A Maskil of Heman the Ezrahite.

O Yahweh, the God of my salvation,
I have cried out by day and throughout the night before You.
[Psa 88:1 LSB]

[9] My eye has wasted away because of affliction;
I have called upon You every day, O Yahweh;
I have spread out my hands to You.
[Psa 88:9 LSB]

Sing of the Lovingkindness of Yahweh Forever

[47] Remember what my span of life is; For what vanity You have created all the sons of men!
[48] What man can live and not see death? Can he provide his soul escape from the power of Sheol? Selah.
[Psa 89:47-48 LSB]

For better is a day in Your courts - Psalm 84-87

Blessed Is the Man Who Trusts in You

[10] For better is a day in Your courts than a thousand [elsewhere]. I would choose to stand at the threshold of the house of my God Than dwell in the tents of wickedness.
[Psa 84:10 LSB]

[4] One thing I have asked from Yahweh, that I shall seek: That I may dwell in the house of Yahweh all the days of my life, To behold the beauty of Yahweh And to inquire in His temple.
[Psa 27:4 LSB]

Turn Us Back, O God

[4] Turn us back, O God of our salvation, And cause Your vexation toward us to cease.
[Psa 85:4 LSB]

To You, O Lord, I Lift Up My Soul

[11] Teach me Your way, O Yahweh; I will walk in Your truth; Unite my heart to fear Your name.
[12] I will give thanks to You, O Lord my God, with all my heart, And will glorify Your name forever.
[13] For Your lovingkindness toward me is great, And You have delivered my soul from Sheol below.
[Psa 86:11-13 LSB]

O God, Restore Us - Psalm 80-83

O God, Restore Us

Psalm 80:7 LSB
O God of hosts, restore us
And cause Your face to shine upon us, that we might be saved.

Psalm 80:19 LSB
O Yahweh God of hosts, restore us;
Cause Your face to shine upon us, that we might be saved.

Oh that My People Would Listen to Me

Psalm 81:1-2 LSB
For the choir director. According to the Gittith. Of Asaph.
Sing for joy to God our strength;
Make a loud shout to the God of Jacob.
Lift up a song of praise, strike the tambourine,
The sweet sounding lyre with the harp.

God Stands in Judgment

Psalm 82:6 LSB
I said, “You are gods,
And all of you are sons of the Most High.

John 10:34-36 LSB
Jesus answered them, “Has it not been written in your Law, ‘I SAID, YOU ARE GODS’?
“If he called them gods, to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture cannot be broken), do you say of Him, whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, ‘You are blaspheming,’ because I said, ‘I am the Son of God’?

In My Distress I Sought the Lord - Psalm 77-79

In My Distress I Sought the Lord

[1] For the choir director. According to Jeduthun. Of Asaph. A Psalm.
My voice [rises] to God, and I must cry aloud;
My voice [rises] to God, and He will hear me.
[2] In the day of my distress I sought the Lord;
In the night my hand was stretched out without weariness;
My soul refused to be comforted.
[Psa 77:1-2 LSB]

That the Generation to Come Might Know

[5] For He established a testimony in Jacob And set a law in Israel, Which He commanded our fathers That they should teach them to their children,
[6] That the generation to come might know, [even] the children [yet] to be born, [That] they may arise and recount [them] to their children,
[7] That they should set their confidence in God And not forget the deeds of God, But observe His commandments,
[8] And not be like their fathers, A stubborn and rebellious generation, A generation that did not prepare its heart And whose spirit was not faithful to God.
[Psa 78:5-8 LSB]

How Long, O Yahweh?

Israel, Pure in Heart - Psalm 73 - 76

The Nearness of God Is My Good

[1] A Psalm of Asaph.
Surely God is good to Israel,
To those who are pure in heart!
[Psa 73:1 LSB]

[17] Israel has been saved by Yahweh With an everlasting salvation; You will not be put to shame or dishonored To all eternity.
[Isa 45:17 LSB]

[47] Jesus saw Nathanael coming to Him, and said about him, "Behold, truly an Israelite in whom there is no deceit!"
[Jhn 1:47 LSB]

[6] But [it is] not as though the word of God has failed. For they are not all Israel who are [descended] from Israel;

[22] Then I was senseless and ignorant; I was [like] an animal before You.
[23] Nevertheless I am continually with You; You have taken hold of my right hand.
[24] With Your counsel You will lead me, And afterward take me in glory.
25] Whom have I in heaven [but You]? And besides You, I desire nothing on earth.
[Psa 73:22-25 LSB]

Yet God Is My King

[1] A Maskil of Asaph.
Why, O God? Have You rejected [us] forever? Why does Your anger smoke against the sheep of Your pasture?
[2] Remember Your congregation, which You have purchased of old, Which You have redeemed to be the tribe of Your inheritance; [And] this Mount Zion, where You have dwelt.
[Psa 74:1-2 LSB]

God Judges with Equity

[1] For the choir director. Al-tashheth. A Psalm of Asaph. A Song.
We give thanks to You, O God, we give thanks, For Your name is near; Men recount Your wondrous deeds.
[Psa 75:1 LSB]

God’s Name Is Great in Israel

Love and Faith - Philemon 1

Philemon’s Love and Faith

[5] because I hear of your love and of the faith which you have toward the Lord Jesus and toward all the saints; ...
[7] For I have come to have much joy and comfort in your love, because the hearts of the saints have been refreshed through you, brother.
[Phm 1:5, 7 LSB]

[10] For God is not unrighteous so as to forget your work and the love which you have shown toward His name, in having ministered and continuing to minister to the saints.
[Heb 6:10 LSB]

[6] [and I pray] that the fellowship of your faith may become effective through the full knowledge of every good thing which is in you for the sake of Christ.
[Phm 1:6 LSB]

Plea for Onesimus

[14] but without your consent I did not want to do anything, so that your goodness would not be, in effect, by compulsion but voluntary.
[Phm 1:14 LSB]

Who Has - Proverbs 28-31

Instructions and Warnings

[13] He who conceals his transgressions will not prosper,
But he who confesses and forsakes [them] will receive compassion.
[Pro 28:13 LSB]

[26] He who trusts in his own heart is a fool,
But he who walks wisely will escape.
[Pro 28:26 LSB]

[11] A fool lets out all of his spirit,
But a wise man holds it back.
[Pro 29:11 LSB]

Every Word of God Is Tested

[2] Surely I am more senseless than any man,
And I do not have the understanding of mankind.
[3] Neither have I learned wisdom,
Nor do I know the knowledge of the Holy One.
[4] Who has ascended into heaven and descended?
Who has gathered the wind in His fists?
Who has wrapped the waters in His garment?
Who has established all the ends of the earth?
What is His name?
And what is His Son's name?
Surely you know!
[Pro 30:2-4 LSB]

A Mother’s Oracle

A Woman Who Fears Yahweh

[26] PE
She opens her mouth in wisdom,
And the instruction of lovingkindness is on her tongue.
[Pro 31:30 LSB]

[30] SHIN
Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain,
[But] a woman who fears Yahweh, she shall be praised.
[Pro 31:30 LSB]
