Eliphaz Says Job Must Repent

Where Is God?

[8] "Behold, I go forward but He is not [there], And backward, but I cannot discern Him;
[9] When He acts on the left, I cannot behold [Him]; He turns on the right, I cannot see Him.
[10] "But He knows the way I take; [When] He has tested me, I shall come forth as gold.

[14] "For He performs what is apportioned for me, And many such [decrees] are with Him. 

[15] "Therefore, I would be dismayed at His presence; I carefully consider, and I am in dread of Him. 

[16] "[It is] God [who] has made my heart faint, And the Almighty [who] has dismayed me,

Who Can Prove Me a Liar?

[12] "From the city men groan, And the souls of the wounded cry out; Yet God does not pay attention to [such] offense.

[31] KAPH For the Lord will not reject forever, 

[32] For if He causes grief, Then He will have compassion According to His abundant lovingkindness.

[33] For He does not afflict from His heart Or grieve the sons of men. 

[34] LAMEDH To crush under His feet All the prisoners of the land, 

[35] To deprive a man of justice In the presence of the Most High, 

[36] To defraud a man in his [legal] case-- These things the Lord does not see [with approval].
