Deuteronomy 7-9

Devote the Nations to Destruction

[6] "For you are a holy people to Yahweh your God; Yahweh your God has chosen you to be a people for His own treasured possession out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth. [Deu 7:6 LSB]

[7] "Yahweh did not set His affection on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any of the peoples, for you were the fewest of all peoples, [8] but because Yahweh loved you and kept the oath which He swore to your fathers, Yahweh brought you out with a strong hand and redeemed you from the house of slavery, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. Yahweh’s Covenant Blessings

[12] "Then it will be, because you listen to these judgments and keep and do them, that Yahweh your God will keep with you His covenant and His lovingkindness which He swore to your fathers. [Deu 7:12 LSB]

Do Not Forget Yahweh Your God

[3] "And He humbled you and let you be hungry and fed you with manna which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, that He might make you know that man does not live by bread alone, but by everything that proceeds out of the mouth of Yahweh. [Deu 8:3 LSB]

[4] But He answered and said, "It is written, 'MAN SHALL NOT LIVE ON BREAD ALONE, BUT ON EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDS OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD.'" [Mat 4:4 LSB]

[5] "Thus you shall know in your heart that Yahweh your God was disciplining you just as a man disciplines his son. [Deu 8:5 LSB]

[12] Blessed is the man whom You discipline, O Yah, And whom You teach out of Your law; [Psa 94:12 LSB]

[12] For whom Yahweh loves He reproves, Even as a father [reproves] the son in whom he delights. [Pro 3:12 LSB]

Israel Provoked Yahweh

[5] "It is not for your righteousness or for the uprightness of your heart that you are going to possess their land, but [it is] because of the wickedness of these nations [that] Yahweh your God is dispossessing them before you, in order to confirm the oath which Yahweh swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob. [Deu 9:5 LSB]
