Yahweh’s Wrath Against Nineveh

Nah 1:1 LSB – [1] The oracle of Nineveh. The book of the vision of Nahum the Elkoshite.

Nah 1:2-3 LSB – 

[2] ALEPH 

A jealous and avenging God is Yahweh; 

Yahweh is avenging and wrathful. 

Yahweh is avenging against His adversaries, 

And He keeps [His anger] for His enemies. 

[3] BETH 

Yahweh is slow to anger and great in power, 

And Yahweh will by no means leave [the guilty] unpunished. 

In whirlwind and storm is His way, 

And clouds are the dust beneath His feet.

Nah 1:7 LSB – [7] 

TETH 

Yahweh is good, A strong defense in the day of distress, 

YODH 

And He knows those who take refuge in Him.

Nah 1:15 LSB – 

[15] Behold, on the mountains the feet of him who proclaims good news, 

Who announces peace! 

Celebrate your feasts, O Judah; 

Pay your vows. 

For never again will the vile one pass through you; 

He is cut off completely.

Isa 52:7 LSB – [7] How lovely on the mountains 

Are the feet of him who proclaims good news, 

Who announces peace 

And proclaims good news of good things, 

Who announces salvation, 

[And] says to Zion, "Your God reigns!"

 

Yahweh’s Destruction of Nineveh

Nah 2:13 LSB – [13] "Behold, I am against you," declares Yahweh of hosts. "And I will burn up her chariots in smoke, and a sword will devour your young lions; and I will cut off your prey from the land, and no longer will the voice of your messengers be heard."

Woe to Nineveh

Nah 3:1 LSB – [1] Woe to the city of bloodshed, completely full of deception [and] pillage; [Her] prey never departs.
