The Preaching of John the Baptist
Mar 1:1 LSB - [1] The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
Mar 1:2-3 LSB - [2] As it is written in Isaiah the prophet: "BEHOLD, I SEND MY MESSENGER AHEAD OF YOU, WHO WILL PREPARE YOUR WAY; [3] THE VOICE OF ONE CRYING IN THE WILDERNESS, 'MAKE READY THE WAY OF THE LORD, MAKE HIS PATHS STRAIGHT.'"

Mal 3:1 LSB - [1] "Behold, I am going to send My messenger, and he will prepare the way before Me. And the Lord, whom you seek, will suddenly come to His temple; and the messenger of the covenant, in whom you delight, behold, He is coming," says Yahweh of hosts.
Mar 1:4 LSB - [4] John the Baptist appeared in the wilderness preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.
Mar 1:7-8 LSB - [7] And he was preaching, saying, "After me One is coming who is mightier than I, and I am not fit to stoop down and untie the strap of His sandals. [8] "I baptized you with water; but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit."
The Baptism of Jesus
Mar 1:9-11 LSB - [9] Now it happened that in those days Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. [10] And immediately coming up out of the water, He saw the heavens opening, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon Him; [11] and a voice came out of the heavens: "You are My beloved Son, in You I am well-pleased."

Mar 1:14-15 LSB - [14] Now after John had been delivered up [into custody], Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of God, [15] and saying, "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel."

Mar 1:35 LSB - [35] And in the early morning, while it was still dark, Jesus rose up, went out of [the house], and went away to a desolate place, and was praying there.

Jesus Heals a Paralytic
Mar 2:3-4 LSB - [3] And they came, bringing to Him a paralytic, carried by four men. [4] And being unable to bring [him] to Jesus because of the crowd, they removed the roof [over] where He was; and when they had dug an opening, they let down the mat where the paralytic was lying.
Mar 2:5 LSB - [5] And Jesus seeing their faith said to the paralytic, "Child, your sins are forgiven."

Mar 2:17 LSB - [17] And hearing [this], Jesus said to them, "Those who are healthy do not have need for a physician, but [only] those who are sick; I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners."

Mar 27-28 LSB - [27] And Jesus was saying to them, "The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. [28] "Consequently the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath."
Jesus Heals a Man on the Sabbath
Mar 3:4-5 LSB - [4] And He said to them, "Is it lawful to do good or to do harm on the Sabbath, to save a life or to kill?" But they kept silent. [5] And after looking around at them with anger, grieved at their hardness of heart, He said to the man, "Stretch out your hand." And he stretched it out, and his hand was restored.
Jesus Appoints the Twelve
Mar 3:13-15 LSB - [13] And He went up on the mountain and summoned those whom He Himself wanted, and they came to Him. [14] And He appointed twelve (whom He also named apostles) to be with Him and to send them out to preach, [15] and to have authority to cast out the demons.

Mar 3:31-35 LSB - [31] Then His mother and His brothers arrived, and standing outside they sent [word] to Him, calling Him. [32] And a crowd was sitting around Him, and they said to Him, "Behold, Your mother and Your brothers are outside looking for You." [33] And answering them, He said, "Who are My mother and My brothers?" [34] And looking about at those who were sitting around Him, He said, "Behold My mother and My brothers! [35] "For whoever does the will of God, he is My brother and sister and mother."
