Leviticus 7-9 - Keep the Charge of Yahweh

Statutes for the Priest in the Offerings

Lev 7:1 LSB - [1] 'Now this is the law of the guilt offering; it is most holy.

Lev 7:2 LSB - [2] 'In the place where they slaughter the burnt offering they are to slaughter the guilt offering, and he shall splash its blood around on the altar.

The Ordination of Aaron and His Sons

Lev 8:1-3 LSB - [1] Then Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, [2] "Take Aaron and his sons with him, and the garments and the anointing oil and the bull of the sin offering and the two rams and the basket of unleavened bread, [3] and assemble all the congregation at the doorway of the tent of meeting."

Lev 8:18-21 LSB - [18] Then he brought near the ram of the burnt offering, and Aaron and his sons laid their hands on the head of the ram. [19] Then Moses slaughtered [it] and splashed the blood around on the altar. [20] And he cut the ram into its pieces. Then Moses offered up the head and the pieces and the suet in smoke. [21] And he washed the entrails and the legs with water. Then Moses offered up the whole ram in smoke on the altar. It was a burnt offering for a soothing aroma; it was an offering by fire to Yahweh, just as Yahweh had commanded Moses.

Lev 8:35 LSB - [35] "At the doorway of the tent of meeting, moreover, you shall remain day and night for seven days and keep the charge of Yahweh, so that you will not die, for so I have been commanded."

A charge to keep I have

Author: Charles Wesley (1762)
1 A charge to keep I have,
a God to glorify,
a never-dying soul to save,
and fit it for the sky.

2 To serve the present age,
my calling to fulfill,
O may it all my pow'rs engage
to do my Master's will!

3 Arm me with watchful care
as in Thy sight to live,
and now Thy servant, Lord, prepare
a strict account to give!

4 Help me to watch and pray,
and still on Thee rely,
O let me not my trust betray,
but press to realms on high.

Aaron Brings Offerings

Lev 9:1-2 LSB - [1] Now it happened on the eighth day that Moses called Aaron and his sons and the elders of Israel; [2] and he said to Aaron, "Take for yourself a calf, a bull, for a sin offering, and a ram for a burnt offering, [both] without blemish, and bring [them] near before Yahweh.

Eze 43:27 LSB - [27] 'So they will complete the days. And it shall be that on the eighth day and onward, the priests shall offer on the altar your burnt offerings and your peace offerings; and I will accept you,' declares Lord Yahweh."

Lev 9:7 LSB - [7] Moses then said to Aaron, "Come near to the altar and offer your sin offering and your burnt offering, that you may make atonement for yourself and for the people; then offer the offering for the people, that you may make atonement for them, just as Yahweh has commanded."

Lev 9:22-24 LSB - [22] Then Aaron lifted up his hands toward the people and blessed them, and he stepped down after offering the sin offering and the burnt offering and the peace offerings. [23] And Moses and Aaron went into the tent of meeting. Then they came out and blessed the people. And the glory of Yahweh appeared to all the people. [24] Then fire came out from before Yahweh and consumed the burnt offering and the portions of fat on the altar. And all the people saw [it] and shouted and fell on their faces.

2Co 3:18 LSB - [18] But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.

Come, Thou Almighty King

Author: C. Wesley

1 Come, Thou Almighty King,
help us Thy name to sing;
help us to praise:
Father, all glorious,
o'er all victorious,
come, and reign over us,
Ancient of Days.

2 Come, Thou Incarnate Word,
gird on Thy mighty sword,
our pray'r attend:
come, and Thy people bless,
and give Thy Word success:
Spirit of holiness,
on us descend.

3 Come, Holy Comforter,
Thy sacred witness bear
in this glad hour:
Thou who almighty art,
now rule in every heart,
and ne'er from us depart,
Spirit of pow'r.

4 To Thee, great One in Three,
eternal praises be
hence, evermore.
His sov'reign majesty
may we in glory see,
and to eternity
love and adore!
