The Death of Samuel
David and Abigail
Abigail’s Discernment
[38] Now it happened that about ten days later, Yahweh smote Nabal, and he died.
[1Sa 25:38 LSB]
Abigail Becomes David’s Wife
[39] Then David heard that Nabal was dead, so he said, "Blessed be Yahweh, who has pleaded the cause of my reproach from the hand of Nabal and has kept back His servant from evil. Yahweh has also returned the evil of Nabal on his own head." Then David sent a proposal to Abigail, to take her as his wife.
[1Sa 25:39 LSB]
[41] And she arose and bowed with her face to the ground and said, "Behold, your maidservant is a servant-woman to wash the feet of my lord's servants."
[1Sa 25:41 LSB]
David Takes Saul’s Spear
[9] But David said to Abishai, "Do not destroy him, for who can send forth his hand against the anointed of Yahweh and be without guilt?"
[10] David also said, "As Yahweh lives, surely Yahweh will smite him, or his day will come that he dies, or he will go down into battle and be swept away.
[11] "Yahweh forbid that I should send forth my hand against the anointed of Yahweh; but now please take the spear that is at his head and the jug of water, and let us go."
[1Sa 26:9-11 LSB]
[12] So David took the spear and the jug of water from [beside] Saul's head, and they went away, but no one saw or knew [it], nor did any awake, for they were all asleep, because a sound sleep from Yahweh had fallen on them.
[1Sa 26:12 LSB]
