Preach the Word - 2 Timothy 1-4

Guard the Treasure Entrusted to You

[1] Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, according to the promise of life in Christ Jesus
[2] To Timothy, my beloved child: Grace, mercy, [and] peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.
[2Ti 1:1-2 LSB]

[1] Paul, a slave of Christ Jesus, called [as] an apostle, having been set apart for the gospel of God, [Rom 1:1 LSB]
[1] Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and Timothy [our] brother, To the church of God which is at Corinth with all the saints who are throughout Achaia:
[2Co 1:1 LSB]

[23] For the wages of sin is death, but the gracious gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
[Rom 6:23 LSB]
[2] For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death.
[Rom 8:2 LSB]

[7] For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and self-discipline.
[8] Therefore do not be ashamed of either the witness about our Lord or me His prisoner, but join with [me] in suffering for the gospel according to the power of God,
[9] who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus from all eternity,
[2Ti 1:7-9 LSB]

[12] For this reason I also suffer these things, but I am not ashamed; for I know whom I have believed and I am convinced that He is able to guard what I have entrusted to Him until that day.
[2Ti 1:12 LSB]

Remember Jesus Christ

[8] Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, of the seed of David, according to my gospel,
[2Ti 2:8 LSB]

[11] It is a trustworthy saying: For if we died with Him, we will also live with Him;
[12] If we endure, we will also reign with Him; If we will deny Him, He also will deny us;
[13] If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.
[2Ti 2:11-13 LSB]

Accurately Handle the Word of Truth

[15] Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth.
[2Ti 2:15 LSB]

[22] Now flee from youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love, [and] peace, with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.
[2Ti 2:22 LSB]

Difficult Times Will Come

[16] All Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness,
[17] so that the man of God may be equipped, having been thoroughly equipped for every good work. [2Ti 3:16-17 LSB]

Preach the Word

[1] I solemnly charge [you] in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingdom:
[2] preach the word; be ready in season [and] out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and teaching.
[2Ti 4:1-2 LSB]

[15] And how will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, "HOW BEAUTIFUL ARE THE FEET OF THOSE WHO PROCLAIM GOOD NEWS OF GOOD THINGS!"
[Rom 10:15 LSB]

Personal Concerns

[16] At my first defense no one supported me, but all deserted me. May it not be counted against them. [17] But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me, so that through me the preaching might be fulfilled, and that all the Gentiles might hear. And I was rescued out of the lion's mouth.
[18] The Lord will rescue me from every evil deed, and will save me unto His heavenly kingdom; to Him [be] the glory forever and ever. Amen.
[2Ti 4:16-18 LSB]
