Vengeance on Midian
Num 31:1-2 LSB - [1] Then Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, [2] "Take full vengeance for the sons of Israel on the Midianites; afterward you will be gathered to your people."
Num 25:17-18 LSB - [17] "Be hostile to the Midianites and strike them, [18] for they have been hostile to you with their deceptive tricks, with which they have deceived you in the affair of Peor and in the affair of Cozbi, the daughter of the leader of Midian, their sister who was slain on the day of the plague because of Peor."
Division of the Loot
Num 31:26-27 LSB - [26] "You and Eleazar the priest and the heads of the fathers' [households] of the congregation take a count of the loot that was captured, both of man and of animal; [27] and divide the loot between the warriors who went out to battle and all the congregation.
Num 31:28-29 LSB - [28] "And you shall exact a levy for Yahweh from the men of war who went out to battle, one in five hundred of the persons and of the cattle and of the donkeys and of the sheep; [29] take it from their half and give it to Eleazar the priest, as a contribution to Yahweh.
Num 31:30 LSB - [30] "And from the sons of Israel's half, you shall take one drawn out of every fifty of the persons, of the cattle, of the donkeys, and of the sheep, from all the animals, and give them to the Levites who keep charge of the tabernacle of Yahweh."
Reuben and Gad Possess Gilead
Num 32:5 LSB - [5] And they said, "If we have found favor in your sight, let this land be given to your servants as a possession; do not take us across the Jordan."
Num 32:29-30 LSB - [29] And Moses said to them, "If the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben, everyone who is armed for battle, will cross with you over the Jordan in the presence of Yahweh, and the land is subdued before you, then you shall give them the land of Gilead for a possession; [30] but if they will not cross over with you armed, they shall have possessions among you in the land of Canaan."
The Journey from Egypt to Jordan
Num 33:1-2 LSB - [1] These are the journeys of the sons of Israel, by which they came out from the land of Egypt by their armies, by the hand of Moses and Aaron. [2] And Moses wrote down their starting places according to their journeys by the command of Yahweh, and these are their journeys according to their starting places.
Num 33:3-5 LSB - [3] They journeyed from Rameses in the first month, on the fifteenth day of the first month; on the next day after the Passover the sons of Israel started out with a high hand in the sight of all the Egyptians, [4] but the Egyptians were burying all their firstborn whom Yahweh had struck down among them. Yahweh had also executed judgments on their gods. [5] Then the sons of Israel journeyed from Rameses and camped in Succoth.
Num 33:49 LSB - [49] They camped by the Jordan, from Beth-jeshimoth as far as Abel-shittim in the plains of Moab.
Statutes of Possessing the Land
Num 33:51-53 LSB - [51] "Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them, 'When you cross over the Jordan into the land of Canaan, [52] then you shall dispossess all the inhabitants of the land from before you and destroy all their carved stones and destroy all their molten images and demolish all their high places; [53] and you shall take possession of the land and inhabit it, for I have given the land to you to possess it.
Num 33:55-56 LSB - [55] 'But if you do not dispossess the inhabitants of the land from before you, then it will be that those whom you let remain of them [will become] as pricks in your eyes and as thorns in your sides, and they will trouble you in the land which you inhabit. [56] 'And it will be as I plan to do to them, so I will do to you.'"
