Deuteronomy 15:16-17 - an awl through his ear into the door

[Deuteronomy 15:16-17 ESV] But if he says to you, ‘I will not go out from you,’ because he loves you and your household, since he is well-off with you, then you shall take an awl, and put it through his ear into the door, and he shall be your slave forever. And to your female slave you shall do the same.

Jesus had an awl put it through his ear into the door. So he had an open ear. He gives a credit of his total obedience to the Lord GOD, saying that God has given him an open ear and that the Lord GOD has opened his ear.

[Psalm 40:6 ESV] In sacrifice and offering you have not delighted, but you have given me an open ear. Burnt offering and sin offering you have not required.

[Isaiah 50:5-7 ESV] The Lord GOD has opened my ear, and I was not rebellious; I turned not backward. I gave my back to those who strike, and my cheeks to those who pull out the beard; I hid not my face from disgrace and spitting. But the Lord GOD helps me; therefore I have not been disgraced; therefore I have set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be put to shame.
